Stonestreets adds new buses to fleet

-

STONESTREETS Coaches has mobilised two newly purchased 4X4 buses to Weipa.

This adds to its fleet of 18 vehicles performing major project work in the Western Cape area.

Stonestreets expansion north began in September last year, facilitated by the access to the area provided by Air North through the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport.

Weekly flights to Cairns, which connect with Western Cape flights, have enabled Stonestreets to service projects in the far north using senior drivers and support staff from its head office in Toowoomba.

Thirty employees are now travelling regularly to Weipa to service new works.

In the two years since the conclusion of construction works in the Surat Basin Stonestreets has developed strategic expansion plans focusing on major projects, and the western growth corridor between Ipswich and Toowoomba.

Managing director Phil Stonestreet said he saw the enormous infrastructure investment being made in the area as an opportunity to strategically refocus the business while still enabling long-term Toowoomba based employees.

In addition to a new workshop opened in Weipa to service project work, Stonestreets has recently purchased a greenfield site at Swanbank.

It will be developed with a custom-built facility to support the growing fleet shared between the Ipswich and Toowoomba areas.

In 2018 Stonestreets will further expand its travel division to Ipswich and add a number of small group tours incorporating departures from Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport.

Stonestreets Coaches and Travel is a privately owned company which started operations in Toowoomba and now operates permanent depots and workshops in Toowoomba, Dalby, Ipswich, Gladstone and Weipa.
