Year on for House Rules champs

New roles for Dalby brothers

- Sophie Volker

IT’S BEEN a whole 12 months since Australia watched on as the humble, hilarious twins from Dalby became House Rules champions in an emotion-fuelled grand final.

And what a year it’s been for Luke and Cody Cook.

Since the series ended, the Cook twins have been the highlight of publicity events all over the country, they’ve helped out with several charities and they’ve taken on presenter roles for Channel 7’s Creek to Coast series.

“We’ve had heaps going on with Channel 7 this year,” Cody said.

“We’ve just been doing a heap of appearances and from that, we got picked up by Creek to Coast,” Luke said.

“We went and did a week filming where we showed them Dalby and then we went to Noosa, and that’s how the presenting panned out from that.

“Since then, we’ve been full-time with Creek to Coast and Queensland Weekender. It’s been really good,” he said.

“(Creek to Coast) keeps us

busy for about 10 days or two weeks a month, so we’ve just been travelling around, getting to do just about anything and everything,” Cody said.

“We’ll go along and often we might do a day quad-biking for Suzuki, or we might do some skirmish and archery or go offshore fishing. It’s so good,” he said.

Luke and Cody have also become ambassadors for Queensland Rail Travel, Asbestos Awareness and

Apprenticeships Australia.

“We love being ambassadors for QLD Rail Travel,” Luke said.

“We go from Brisbane to Longreach and Hervey Bay and different things, and we also did a Queensland Rail safety video, which was really fun.”

One special moment that sticks out to the boys among all the hype was when they were asked to renovate a young girl’s bedroom for the Make-A-Wish foundation in

October last year.

“Luke and I had been called upon by a 14-year-old girl named Crystal in Coffs Harbour, and her one wish was for us to come and renovate her bedroom,” Cody said.

“It was like a mini House Rules, so she told us what she likes, what colours she likes, and we went off that. We even had a little budget to work with,” Luke said.

“That was really awesome,” he said.

But when they’re not filming, Luke and Cody come back to Dalby to work and spend time with the family.

“Dalby is still home – we’ve still got Mum and our little brother here and we love it because all our mates are here,” Luke said.

As for the future, Luke and Cody are just taking it as it comes.

“We’ll just keep working on our presenting and try to work our way up from there,” Luke said.
