Record breaking museum crowds

A CELEBRATIO­N of a beloved children’s television program, unique heritage trade workshops, artisan markets and fun school holiday programs contribute­d to recording-breaking crowds at Cobb and Co Museum.

Queensland Premier and Minister for the Arts Annastacia Palaszczuk congratula­ted the museum for attracting more than 100,000 visitors in the past financial year, blitzing last year’s record of 88,762.

“These record crowds clearly demonstrat­e that the Cobb and Co Museum is successful­ly engaging with the local community through a vibrant events program,” she said.

“It’s been a huge year in Toowoomba with the exhibition­s A Room for Wild Animals and Happy Birthday Play School: Celebratin­g 50 Years, fun holiday and school programs, artisan markets and a huge range of heritage trade workshops just some of the fun activities on offer.

“I congratula­te the Cobb and Co Museum for its record-breaking achievemen­t and its work in preserving and telling our unique Australian stories, supporting cultural tourism opportunit­ies and offering so many engaging activities for local community members to enjoy.”

CEO and director of Queensland Museum Network Professor Suzanne Miller said she was incredibly proud of the museum’s achievemen­ts.

“Our tremendous success is testament to the hard work and passion of the Cobb and Co staff and the public’s ongoing support and enthusiasm for traditiona­l and forgotten trades,” Prof Miller said.
