Singing voices on display

-

Grace Gallagher, Year 12

We are singing as part of a flash mob at the Women of Strength luncheon.

We are part of a group of Fairholme girls who were chosen to sing at this event.

I really enjoy singing and have been doing it since I was in about Year 5.

I find it really enjoyable and it is a thrill to be at an event like this.

It is also a privilege to sing here and in front of Ita Buttrose.

I hope to study something creative at university after I finish school this year.

Georgia Brass, Year 11

I think it is a big honour to be able to sing in front of Ita Buttrose.

I am a bit nervous to do it but it is good because there are a lot of other Fairholme girls here too.

I like singing because you can express your emotions through it and if you write your own music you can use your own words as well.

I have been singing since I was first in primary school.

Emma Scanlon, Year 11

I think that it is a big honour to sing here and in front of Ita Buttrose because she is someone I can look up to.

I have been singing since I was about two-years-old.

I didn’t know too much about this event, but it seems really cool and I just like singing.

We are singing You’re the Voice by John Farnham.

Singing is something I hope to continue after I finish school, 100 per cent.

MJ Scanlon, Year 8

I like singing because it makes people smile and it can make people feel something.

I really only started singing last year.

I enjoy singing all types of music. My favourite is probably singing acoustic versions of current-day songs.

I think I have definitely gotten over my nerves of singing in front of people. Even though I have only been performing for two years, it is a lot easier now.

I am very proud to be here because there are a lot of amazing singers at our school. I just enjoy singing and performing in front of my peers.

These girls were part of a large group of Fairholme College students who were selected to perform at the Women of Strength luncheon. The luncheon was held on Friday at Wellcamp airport and featured special guest Ita Buttrose who spoke about her life experiences.

The event was held in support of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, with all money raised going toward the Toowoomba Hospital’s midwifery department.
