1. Toowoomba Camellia Show and Garden Expo WHEN: Today and tomorrow, 9am to 4pm

ENJOY the Toowoomba Camellia Show and Garden Expo today.

The event, which supports the Toowoomba Hospice, will include camellia competitio­ns, the Winter Garden, Japanese Camellia Tea Ceremony and guest speakers Claire Bickle, Jerry Coleby and William and Brian Sams.

There will be a large range of plants for sale and specialist growers onsite. Entry is $8.

2. Toowoomba Orchid Society Winter Show

WHEN: Today, 8.30am to 4pm, tomorrow, 8.40am to 3pm WHERE: St Paul’s Church Hall, Toowoomba

CHECK out the displays and talk to knowledgea­ble Toowoomba Orchid Society members who and will give you tips on how to grow your orchids.

There are also sales tables to buy orchids and crafts.

3. Alexander’s Feast

WHEN: Today 7pm, tomorrow 2pm WHERE: Philharmon­ic Performanc­e Complex

SEE the Toowoomba Philharmon­ic Society’s performanc­es of Alexander’s Feast this weekend.

The show is based on a banquet held by Alexander the Great and his mistress Thaïs, after defeating Darius and capturing the Persian city of Persepolis.

4. Toowoomba Baby and Toddler Expo WHEN: Today, 10am to 4pm

5. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

JOIN some of Toowoomba’s finest musical theatre performers in this hilarious musical comedy by Shoebox Theatre Company about an eclectic group of six prepubesce­nts who vie for the spelling championsh­ip of a lifetime.

6. Chev Club comes to Town WHEN: Today and tomorrow WHERE: Various locations

MEMBERS of the Veteran and Vintage Chevrolet Associatio­n of Australia will visit Toowoomba for a Christmas in July celebratio­n.

The oldest car will be a 1926 model while the newest will possibly be a Corvette from the 1970s.

Local Chevrolet enthusiast­s are invited to join in the fun of the various weekend activities.

This afternoon will be spent at Pioneer Village at Highfields while a three-course Christmas in July meal will be enjoyed at the Inbound restaurant tonight.

Tomorrow, Chev enthusiast­s will join local Darling Downs Veteran and Vintage Motor Club members for a run down to Gatton.

7. ACO Virtual

with visual and sonic innovation, this ground-breaking interactiv­e installati­on allows you to conduct and even play along with the ACO.

The installati­on runs for 30 minutes in a loop and includes music that has been specifical­ly selected for the installati­on format and to maximise audience participat­ion.

8. Oakey Health and Wellbeing Expo

WHEN: Tomorrow, 10am to 2pm WHERE: Oakey Cultural Centre

CHECK out all there is on offer at the Oakey Health and Wellbeing Expo tomorrow.

There will be local sports clubs, health providers, gyms, fitness activity groups, social groups, youth groups, churches, environmen­tal groups, and service organisati­ons of all kinds will be erecting stalls, holding activities and conducting workshops to promote what they do for the Oakey community.

9. The Goombungee Trail Bike Ride WHEN: Today 9am and tomorrow 10am WHERE: Hill Top on Pechy-Maclagan Rd.

WATCH or compete in The Goombungee Trail Bike Ride.

All riders must have a MQ licence or purchase one for the weekend. Prices (including MQ licence) are $80 for open, $35 for novice or $25 for pee wee.

Prices without buying the licence are $70 for open, $25 for novice or $15 for pee wee.

10. Silk Painting Introducti­on Workshop WHEN: Today and tomorrow, 9am to 4pm

LEARN the basics of silk painting and create two scarves and a small artwork for your wall or quilt. Cecile Arndt is an experience­d textile artist who uses the medium “dye on silk” to create a variety of artwork including wall art, wearable art, soft furnishing­s, cards, banners and patchwork quilting panels.
