Longs Building set for transformation

-

PLANS are now under way to transform a major location in Toowoomba’s CBD into a new urban community hub.

The Longs Building, located at 199-207 Margaret St and 12-14 Chronicle Ln, was sold by Colliers International Toowoomba to a group of local investors in December 2016, after going on the market for the first time in 100 years.

Strategically positioned in the heart of Toowoomba’s ‘Eat Street’ dining precinct, the Longs Building has previously hosted a variety of retail and dining tenancies, more recently Café Forte, Veraison, and the Linen Chest.

Investor Mark Adamson of As Planned Developments said the Longs Building offered a rare opportunity to secure a prime location in Toowoomba’s tightly-kept CBD.

“We are now looking for tenants to be a part of this exciting new redevelopment,” Mr Adamson said.

“While we are still in the early planning stages, we are aiming to create an urban retail, commercial and dining precinct that continues the flow and interconnectivity between the surrounding buildings and streetscape. “Besides the opportunity to be positioned in premium location, tenants will also have access to a high-ratio of car parking – a rare commodity in the CBD,” he said.

Mr Adamson said the Longs Building represented a piece of local history, connecting people by acting as a community hub. “We want to incorporate these aspects into the development and will rename the building to something that captures all of this - ‘The Longs Quarter’,” he said.

“The Longs Quarter will embrace Toowoomba’s growing laneway culture, blending innovation and functionality.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the project come to fruition.”

Justin Eastwell from Colliers International Toowoomba said the Colliers Commercial team had been working alongside this project for quite some time now.

“We are really excited for what is to come and the positive impact this will have on the Toowoomba CBD,” he said.
