OPENING another small Toowoomba business brings the number of stores to three for Wyalla Café and Takeaway owner Adam Sacks.

Mr Sacks and his fiancé Miharu Iwashita opened the new Wyalla store in the Wyalla Plaza at the start of last week.

It joins the couple’s other businesses, the Glenvale Convenience Plus and the Stephen St Store and Takeaway.

“We weren’t actually looking for another store, we had our hands full,” Mr Sacks said.

“But the opportunity came up and we thought we would just do it.”

The pair took over the store, which was T-Macks Takeaway, on June 1. It was the last remaining vacant store in the plaza.

The takeover of the store was the third in three years for Mr Sacks after taking over the Glenvale business in 2015 and the Stephen St business in 2016.

However he said he would “pull up” a bit now, with no plans under way to open another store.

Mr Sacks said what set

the Wyalla store apart from the others was its café style.

He said the food on offer was “real food” and that their hamburgers were “old-style” compared to many available today and without the high price tag.

Other items include hot dogs, chips, chicken, seafood, ice cream, cakes and other treats.

“We have got a lot of seating here, the other stores we don’t have much,” he said.

“This is more of a café where you can sit down and have a meal, whereas the other stores are more takeaway.”

Mr Sacks said having three stores was challenging, having to now run between all three.

“There is a lot of stock that we hold as well and we have a lot of staff members,” he said.

“I have another business as well. It is a small marketing business that I have been doing for a few years.

“It is more online web design and I run that on the side as well.”

But it wasn’t always Mr Sack’s goal to have small businesses. He worked as a real estate agent and in marketing before going out on his own.

“I do like working for myself,” he said. “There is less freedom but there is also more freedom. It is also a lot hard and it is a lot more hours but it is rewarding.”

Wyalla Café and Takeaway is open seven days a week. It is open from 6am - 7pm Monday to Saturday and from 7am - 3pm on Sunday. It is located in the Wyalla Plaza at Newtown.
