Residents react to NBN title

-

THERE has been a huge reaction from Toowoomba residents after it was announced the region was one of the most connected to the NBN network.

NBN senior corporate affairs manager for Queensland Kylie Lindsay said last week Toowoomba was on the forefront of the nationwide upgrade.

According to the statement from Ms Lindsay, residents connected to the NBN were downloading, on average, about 144GB of data each month - 20 per cent more than the national fixed-line broadband average.

More than 150 people commented on social media about the announcement. Many claimed to have had nothing but trouble when it came to NBN connections.

Rick Osbourne commented he could not get NBN to his house: “Their response is that you have been missed.”

Sue Batchelor said her NBN was slower than broadband and Florence Brennan commented she had nothing but trouble since the day the NBN was connected.

Sara Ryan said: “You have to be joking, it’s pitiful and non-existent out Highfields way.”

Kylie Sheedy said: “I’d hate to see what the rest of the country is like then.”

Donna Carlson described the NBN as “dreadful”.

The NBN said there were more than 67,400 homes and businesses in Toowoomba which could connect to the NBN, with the roll-out set to be complete by 2020.
