1. Opera at Jimbour WHEN: Today, 10am to 4pm WHERE: Jimbour House Amphitheat­re, Jimbour Station

QUEENSLAND Music Festival and Opera Queensland have partnered up to entertain thousands at one of the state’s most popular free outdoor events, Opera at Jimbour, held in the picturesqu­e grounds of heritage-listed Jimbour House in the Western Downs.

QMF and OperaQ will present a semi-staged concert version of Franz Lehar’s world famous The Merry Widow, in a new version directed by OperaQ’s Jason Barry-Smith, featuring elaborate costumes, soaring melodies and a star-studded cast featuring much-loved tenor David Hobson.

2. Sausage Fest WHEN: Today, 11am to 8pm WHERE: Blank Space, The Mills Precinct

IF YOU love sausages, beer and cider, this is the ultimate event for you.

The Spotted Cow is hosting Sausage Fest, which will have live music, table tennis tables, eating competitio­ns and some of the best sausages you’ve ever tasted.

3. Jumpers and Jazz WHEN: Today and tomorrow WHERE: Warwick CBD

WARWICK is where all of the yarn-bombing action is this weekend for the annual Jumpers and Jazz Festival.

Key events this weekend will include Jazz at the Gallery with artisan markets on Saturday, the Killarney Fire Drums and Bonfire on Saturday and the RACQ Grand Historic Auto Display on Sunday.

4. The Handmade Expo Market WHEN: Tomorrow, 9am to 2pm

WHERE: Harristown State High School

THE Handmade Expo showcases the very best handmade makers, bakers and creators from across the Toowoomba region.

Creations at this weekend’s market will include children’s clothing, button jewellery, homewares, quilting, crochet, wood and metal work, glassware and home style baking.

5. USQ Bookcase Writers’ Festival WHEN: Today and tomorrow WHERE: USQ

BOOK-LOVERS and authors will descend on USQ Toowoomba for the annual USQ Bookcase Writers’ Festival.

Attendees will enjoy a range of literary events designed to indulge a passion for writing,

blogging, illustrati­ons and more.

Walkley-award winning investigat­ive journalist Amanda Gearing will be the 2017 USQ Bookcase keynote speaker and will speak at 1.30pm on Saturday in the USQ Refectory.

The USQ Bookcase Don’t Tell charity screening will be held from 6.30pm in the USQ Artsworx Theatre.

6. Sydney Comedy Festival

FOLLOWING a huge show last year, the funniest comedians from this year’s Sydney Comedy Festival are hitting the road and bringing another all-star comedy showcase to Toowoomba.
