MOTORSPORT: Driving in the V8 Supercars has been a lifelong dream for Will Brown and the Toowoomba driver has moved a step closer to making that a reality.

A stellar start to his debut season in the Dunlop Super2 series earned him the opportunity to test with Triple Eight Race Engineering and the Red Bull Holden Racing team.

“It was a huge opportunity,” the 19-year-old said.

“Red Bull have won a lot of championships in the last 10 years so they are the best team in V8 Supercars.”

The teen speedster is quickly setting a pace in motorsport as one of the most promising young drivers on the circuit.

Brown got to spend time in the pits with Jamie Whincup as part of his testing, an experience he said has taught him a lot about what it takes.

“Jamie Whincup had a couple of laps to benchmark it for us,” he said.

“It was great because we got to speak to Jamie a little bit which was awesome.

“He gave me a few pointers about how the main game car will handle in the future.”

Taking out two national drivers’ championship titles in 2016, Brown achieved an Australian racing first to etch his name into the history books.

Despite sitting eighth in the Super2 series this year, the rookie has even more titles in his sights after achieving a goal that has been years in the making.

“This has to be one of my highest (accomplishments) it was always a dream to race for Red Bull,” he said.

“We still have our two-year plan in place.

“We’re using this year as a learning year and next year we are going for the championship.”
