A POPULAR furniture store is making a comeback in the Garden City.

Freedom operated in the Bernoth Centre for more than a decade before closing its doors in 2011.

Businessman Colin Mackay is reopening the store in less than two weeks, at the Bernoth Centre at the former site of Barbeques Galore.

Mr Mackay is best known for owning and operating The Good Guys for 15 years before stepping back from the business almost two years ago.

Mr Mackay said it felt right coming back and operating Freedom.

He said Toowoomba had been missing the fashion-based furniture.

“The store has been a hive of activity for the past few weeks,” he said.

“It is almost full with furniture. It’s really exciting that it is starting to come together.

“Freedom treats furniture

as fashion. It can be a real statement for people who want something extra in their home.

“It is always up-to-date with what is in style and the quality is incredible.

“Selecting furniture is about making the space yours by mixing styles and finding the perfect pieces, whether it be cups and plates or a lounge suite.”

Mr Mackay said the entire team was looking forward to

reintroducing Toowoomba to Freedom.

“We have great people on board and they are all really excited to be part of the team and have been Freedom fans from way back,” he said.

Freedom will open on Wednesday, August 16, with the grand opening the following Saturday.

The store is celebrating with a range of opening offers.
