Best way to see country

IT’S no secret that you don’t have to go overseas to have a great holiday - there are heaps of great places and wonderful things to see and do in Australia.
Australian Events director Bob Carroll said people were hugely interested in holidaying around Queensland.
That interest in holidaying locally is one of the reasons why the outdoor adventure and motoring industry is growing larger.
“If people buy a caravan or motorhome, we know they are going to be using that to go on trips about two or three hours drive from where they live,” Mr Carroll said.
“Now if they go three hours south, or three hours north or three hours west, they’re going to cover some really great territory and see some great places.”
To cater to that growing market, Australian Events is bringing its Queensland Outdoor Adventuring and Motoring Expo to
Toowoomba.
The 2017 event at the Toowoomba Showgrounds, which kicks off today, will feature dozens of caravans, motorhome and camper trailer retailers, tourism and holiday destinations, motorbikes, recreational vehicles and dozens of motoring and camping accessory companies.
There will also be
demonstrations for various off-road vehicles during the weekend.
“The age range we’re seeing the most growth in is 25 to 50-year-olds,” Mr Carroll said.
“Traditionally it was only the grey nomads that bought caravans and motorhomes, but we’re seeing more young people and families with them.
“Parents love them because it’s a great way for children to disengage from things like social media and iPads.
“But having said that, technology is great to take on holidays to use at night when they might like to watch a movie or something like that.”
