Morrissy targets added MX Nationals class

-

Kerrod Morrissy has more to ride for when the MX Nationals series hits Toowoomba next weekend.

Round nine of the national series will be contested at Echo Valley on Sunday, August 13 and some of Australia’s top riders will battle it out in the MX1 and MX2 categories.

The KTM Amateur Cup will also be contested in the penultimate round of the series, which will give riders like Morrissy a title to chase.

This category is open to riders who have not finished in the top five in races in the MX1 and MX2 categories for the past two years, which gives non-factory riders the chance to compete for podium finishes.

Toowoomba rider Morrissy is keen to contest the class at his home round.

“I really enjoyed racing the 125 Cup Class this year, and I wanted to continue riding without all the added pressure, so the Amateur Cup class was a perfect fit for me,” he said.

“These days, I only get to ride once a week on a Sunday but I still want to do well.

“The races in the KTM Amateur Cup category are shorter and it’s a class that is still very competitive which ticks all the boxes.

“It gives people like myself the opportunity to race without competing against the factory teams.

“I’m really excited for next weekend, because I will have family and friends coming along to support me, so I hope to do well.

“The Toowoomba MX Club always prepare the track well and I am always pumped to ride at home.”
