TOOWOOMBA CATTLE

THE number of stock penned declined further, and young cattle were in the largest numbers.

Most of the usual export buyers were present, however some displayed very little interest.

A fair panel of buyers was present in the young cattle section with feeder operators the major buyers.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers experience­d strong demand.

However, medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed lost from 18c to 25c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers averaged 10c/kg cheaper.

Heavy grown steers to export slaughter sold to a market 8ckg less and no bullocks were penned.

The very small selection of cows were mainly light weight light condition lines while a handful of better cows experience­d an easier market.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 378.2c with most close to 358c/kg.

Yearling steers in the 280-330kg range to feed made to 368.2c to average 349c/kg.

The occasional medium weight steer showing potential made to 382.2c with the remainder around 314c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 312.2c to average 296c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to feed made to 306.2c to average 285c and a few to the trade averaged 279c/kg.

A handful of medium weight yearling heifers to the trade made to 315.2c to average 304c/kg.

Heavy grown steers made to 283.2c to average 278c/kg.

A handful of medium weight 2 score cows averaged 193c/kg.

A few heavy cows made to 227.2c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 270.2c/kg.

MORETON CATTLE

Agents Boyd O’Brien Bartholome­w reported a yarding of 392 head at Moreton on Tuesday.

Values for yearlings and vealers were softer, while cattle returning to the paddock and to feedlots sold to rates stronger than last week. Trade cattle remained firm, as did export with all buyers in attendance.

Brangus x yearling heifers account D Neumann, Coominya sold for 288.2c/kg, weighing 275kg to return $792.

John Doonan, Calvert, sold limousin x yearling steers for 341.2c/kg, weighing 283kg to return $968.

S Martin, Kingaroy, sold droughtmas­ter x pasture heifers for 277.2c/kg, weighing 410kg to return $1136.

Charolais x pasture steers account R& H Cowan, Charlwood, sold for 313.2c/kg, weighing 440kg to return $1380.

E& N Tones, Kilcoy, sold angus x pasture ox for 266.2c/kg, weighing 641kg to return $1706.

S Martin sold droughtmas­ter x feeder heifers for 287.2c/kg, weighing 350kg to return $1005.

Boorook Partnershi­p, Boonah, sold charolais x feeder steers for 315.2c/kg, weighing 392kg to return $1238.

Beenleigh State High School sold droughtmas­ter cows for 223.2c/kg, weighing 620kg to return $1383.

Usher Pastoral Co, Lamington, sold droughtmas­ter cows for 225.2c/kg, weighing 637kg to return $1435.

Usher Pastoral Co also sold a droughtmas­ter bull for 259.2c/kg, weighing 935kg to return $2423.

ROMA STORE

A total of 6798 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 366c/kg and averaged 333c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 348c/kg and averaged 321c/kg.

Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 348c/kg and averaged 312/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 336c/kg and averaged 296c/kg.

Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 308c/kg and averaging 287c/kg.

Cows and calves hit $1100/unit.

Inkerman Grazing Co, Inkerman, Longreach, sold Charbray steers for 350c/kg at 209kg returning $732/head.

H& N Nelder, Khyber, Augathella, sold santa steers for 348c/kg at 218kg returning $760/head.

Camberwarr­a Cattle Co, Camberwarr­a, Winton, sold santa-cross steers for 348c/kg at 211kg returning $734/head.

The santa-cross heifers went for 280c/kg at 235kg returning $659/head.

S& M Russell, Willara, Augathella, sold charbray-cross steers for 348c/kg at 289kg returning $1007/head.

The charolais-cross heifers went for 294c/kg at 320kg returning $941/head.

Hurford Trust, Belgaum, St George, sold Simbrah-cross steers for 348c/kg at 248kg returning $864/head.

The simbrah-cross heifers went for 278c/kg at 205kg returning $570/head.

The hereford-cross heifers went for 284c/kg at 320kg returning $909/head.

heifers in the 220 – 280kg range topped at 296c/kg and averaged 264c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 306c/kg, averaging 273c/kg.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 310c/kg, averaging 261c/kg.

Wondolin P/Co, Wondolin, Wallumbill­a, sold hereford-cross heifers for 304c/kg at 351kg returning $1070/head.

Cows in the 300-400kg range reached 238c/kg and averaged 176c/kg, while cows in the 400kg-500kg range reached 212c/kg and averaged 186c/kg.

Cows over 500kg topped at 218c/kg, averaging 204c/kg.

Bulls under 400kg reached 348c/kg and averaged 283c/kg.

WARWICK CATTLE

The current spell of dry weather lifted numbers by 20%.

Most of the usual export buyers were in attendance however some were not operating in the cow section.

A fair panel of buyers was present on the young cattle and as one feeder buyer stepped out of the market another stepped in.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers received only quality related price changes.

Well bred yearling steers in the 280-330kg range to feed experience­d very strong demand.

However, medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 5c to 8c/kg less.

Only a couple of good bullocks were penned while the remainder were mainly older 3 score classes.

Plain condition cows lost up to 5c/kg while the good heavy cows sold close to the previous week’s level.

Steer calves sold to restockers at an average of 350c with some to 374.2c/kg.

A small selection of vealer heifers sold to feeder operators at 303c with sales to 320.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold around 339c with sales to 360c/kg.

A relatively small selection of yearling steers in the 280-330kg range to feed averaged 346/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 316c and made to 333.2c/kg.

Heavy weights to feed mostly sold around 310c with sales to 317.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to feed or returned to the paddock generally sold in the early 290c/kg range.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 292c and made to 299.2c/kg.

Bullocks in the 3 score range averaged 262c while a couple of good bullocks made to 280.2c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 201c and made to 208.2c/kg.

Good heavy cows made to 228c with most close to 225c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 301.2c/kg.

DALBY CATTLE

The supply of stock at last week’s Dalby sale experience­d a small decline to 4440 head.

A fair panel of buyers was present however some of the exporters of the previous week were absent.

Most classes sold to a cheaper trend with medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 5c to 7c/kg less.

Medium weight yearling heifers were cheaper by 9c/kg.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks sold to a market 13c to 17c/kg less.

Good heavy cows lost 12c/kg while the plain conditione­d lines at the time of this interim report have received very little change.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made from 296.2c to 323.2c while medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold from 280c to 320c, averaging 295.5c/kg.

Grown steers in the 500-600kg range made 277.2c to 286.2c/kg.

Grown heifers traded from 256.2c to 270c/kg.

Heavy cows sold from 216.2c to 228.2c and averaged 223.3c/kg.

The best bull made 300c/kg.
