Home away from home

-

SITUATED on 53 acres of beautiful park-like grounds in Brisbane’s western suburbs, St Peters Lutheran College is one of the leading independent, co-educational boarding schools in Australia, where students thrive in an inspirational learning environment within breathtaking grounds.

Located only six kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD, St Peters has provided a home away from home for its boarding students for well over 70 years.

As the largest co-educational boarding school in Brisbane, St Peters is perfectly positioned to provide real-world opportunities for boarding students.

“Being a co-educational boarding school we are able to offer that true family concept,” Mr Kotzur said.

“St Peters provides a myriad of opportunities for excellence in academic pursuits, sports and the arts, a comprehensive curriculum with outstanding facilities and a nurturing pastoral care program that recognises and develops each student’s unique strengths and qualities.

“Boarders are the core to the college and have formed a valuable and valued part of the school since its foundation in 1945.”

Our recently renovated boarding facilities cater for the needs of both genders in a safe and secure environment.

“Students’ academic, co-curricular, social and spiritual development, together with their physical well-being, is achieved within this setting,” he said.

“We aim to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, values and confidence to become enterprising, innovative and compassionate members of the global community.”

While the hardest part about boarding is being away from family, the boarders at St Peters quickly embrace being part of the tight-knit boarding family.

“The relationships between the boarding staff and the boarders make it easy to see it as a home away from home,” he said.

“We are very proud of every boy and girl who comes into our boarding house at St Peters.

“There is very much a culture of inclusion and everyone is cared for equally, no matter their age or year level.

“Our boarders are a true reflection of the society we live in. We have boarders from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds, with boarders coming from rural, coastal and inland towns and cities across Australia, and international students joining them from Asia and Papua New Guinea.

“This diversity is the essence of real life.”
