Companies set to create jobs

-

TWO Darling Downs manufacturers will create almost 50 jobs as they use more than $1 million in Palaszczuk Government support to take their operations to the next level.

State Development Minister Dr Anthony Lynham announced yesterday that Pittsworth trailer manufacturer Moore Trailers and Millmerran’s egg producer DA Hall & Co were the latest companies to receive grants from the Government’s $20 million Made in Queensland program.

They follow two other Downs companies Gessner Industries and Global Rotomoulding who were the first companies in the state to secure Made in Queensland funds.

“These latest two companies have taken the initiative to step up, grab this opportunity to partner with government, and boost their businesses,” he said.

“The Darling Downs region is emerging as a Queensland manufacturing powerhouse.

“Made in Queensland has helped them to identify improvements, and the funds are allowing them to they can make those changes and move to new levels of efficiency and growth.

“This Government wants Queensland to become known as Australia’s home of cutting edge advanced manufacturing, because this sector will provide high skill, highly-paid jobs of the future.”

Moore Trailers will use its grant of more than $650,000 to install an automated laser cutting machine. This will allow it to boost production by 50% and create about 40 jobs.

DA Hall & Co will use its grant of more than $530,000 to increase egg production to suppliers --- including Sunny Queen Eggs --- from 40 million dozen to 56 million dozen a year – potentially generating seven new jobs in the short term.

Made in Queensland provides grants of between $50,000 and $2.5 million to help fund improvements to make companies more productive and competitive, and create jobs. Manufacturers have to go dollar-for-dollar with the government to fund improvements.
