Lovely Bromeliads on show

-

THE Toowoomba and Districts Bromeliad Society Inc. is preparing for its third annual Spring Show and Sale.

Guest speakers Greg and Narelle Aizlewood from the Gold Coast came to the society’s last meeting to advise members on the best way to prepare their plants for showing and selling.

Narelle is a Bromeliad Society International qualified judge. Greg is a well recognised grower and cultivator of Tillandsias with more than 30 years’ experience.

He shared some of his knowledge of the best way to grow Tillandsias and gave members a close look at some of the different species grown in Australia.

Our youngest member Joseph Watson was encouraged in his passion for gardening, especially Cacti and Bromeliads, as well as his ambition to travel to Costa Rico where most of the bromeliads and cacti originate from.

Our Spring Show and Sale will be on Saturday, September 16 to Monday, September 18, from 8am to 4pm at Sacred Heart Primary School Hall, North and Tor Sts, Wilsonton, Toowoomba.

Admission is $3 per adult. Children are admitted without charge.

Hundreds of Bromeliads will be on show representing many of the Genra grown locally, as well as cacti, succulents and foliage.

There will be also hundreds of plants for sale at reasonable prices.

Some newer varieties will be available from our invited nursery from Caboolture.

A stand selling quality garden tools will be back again.

The Spring Show and Sale has been partially sponsored by The Toowoomba Regional Council through a community grant.
