Champion tackles Toowoomba round

-

Daniel Milner is keen to contest Sunday’s MX Nationals round in Toowoomba despite a hectic schedule in another format.

Milner will be one of the talented riders contesting the MX1 class at Echo Valley on Sunday as Australia’s leading riders hit the city for a national round.

It will be a change for Milner who heads to France later this month for the International Six-Day Enduro after taking out the E2 class at the Australian Off-Road Championships.

He could understandably want to focus on the big event in France but has instead chosen to make a special appearance on the start line at Echo Valley.

“At the start of the year I said I would like to do an MX National, and round nine works out perfectly,” he said.

“At the Four Day, our final moto is actually a motocross race so my plan is to race at Toowoomba so that I know what I’m in for.

“I’m going to be racing the MX1 class. I know it’s going to be hectic racing with those guys and I’m hoping that I don’t get lapped too many times but it’s going to be fun out there racing.

“My goal is to finish around the top 10, if I don’t, well it is what it is. I’m going

to Toowoomba for some fun.”

There will be some Toowoomba riders in action in the variety of classes on offer, including Kerrod Morrissy, who will contest the Amateur Cup class.

The Echo Valley round will also be important for title contenders in the MX1 and MX2 classes given the series has reached the second-last round.

Dean Ferris leads the MX1 standings from Kirk Gibbs heading into this weekend, with Wilson Todd holding a slender lead in the MX2 standings. Toowoomba rider Kaleb Barham is seventh in the MXD class.

Action starts at 8am on Sunday at Echo Valley.
