Staying on trend

- SONYA DE WIT

TAKE your love of fluffy slippers to the streets.

This month we are frothing over the fluffiest jackets on record, including jackets, collars, bags and even shoes – you name it, it is furry.

From fleece teddy bear material to real feathery furs, the fashion world has gone crazy for that oh so soft and comfortable look. Michael Korrs and Marc Jacobs are leading these trends.

Also popular on the runway were extra-long knitted jumpers donned like dresses, such as those designed by Coach and Alexander Wang.

Even capes are popular. From over-the-shoulder styles to ones flapping around ankles, capes are on every collection.

We love sheer or fur capes with flowing sleeves – especially striking when suited with the latest ’90s slip dress revival.

The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week revealed a resurgence of over-the-knee boots, worn by the likes of Gigi Hadid.

Also seen was an assortment of lolly-coloured print dresses by Miu Miu and a glimmering banquet of gold trimmed and fully gold pieces.

No one flatters with gold better than Ralph Lauren, who featured a polished selection of golden jackets and dresses to match.

Burberry has been flaunting above-knee dresses with revealing peeks of lace underneath – an adorable layering touch.

Colours of this season are softening with the coming of spring, which is clear from the emergence of latte brown, frost blue and dusty pink.

If you are at a loss with finding your statement style, you can always get by with a weighty coat, preferably a blend of wool and cashmere.

As the iconic Zoe Foster Blake says, “Let a good coat do all the heavy lifting.”
