TOOWOOMBA CATTLE

THE supply of stock reduced a little further and buyer attendance was generally not as good as the previous week.

Apart from a few classes receiving good demand, the remainder sold to a much cheaper trend.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers lost 25c/kg.

Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed experience­d very little change.

Light weight yearling heifers to feed or slaughter improved in price by 6c to 7c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 9c/kg cheaper.

The relatively small sample of bullocks was in the older, heavier classes and lost 10c to 15c/kg.

Cows also sold to a cheaper market to average 8c to 10c/kg less.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 340.2c, with most about 331c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 316c and made to the very occasional 334.2c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 296c and made to 310c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to feed or slaughter averaged from 286c to 292.2c, with a few about 298.2c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 271c and made to 291.2c/kg.

Bullocks averaged 268c and made to 275c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 192c and the 3 scores 206c/kg.

Good heavy cows made to 213.2c to average 212c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 246.2c/kg.

BIGGENDEN CATTLE

Burnett Livestock and Realty’s meatworks and store sale on Monday had a mixed quality yarding of 1508 head selling to a mostly firm market.

Heavy bulls sold to 254c; bullocks sold to 279c; cows more than 500kg sold to 227c; cows 400–500kg sold to 247c; trade heifers more than 400kg sold to 288c.

B&JA Warrell, Mount Perry, sold brahman cross bullocks for 261c/$1663.

RJ Thompson, Gayndah, sold droughtmas­ter cross bullocks for 263c/$1736.

S&V Hayes, Mundubbera, sold grey brahman cows for 225c/$1408.

TD McLennan, Mundubbera, sold crossbred cows for 215c/$1304.

Feeder steers 400kg to 500kg sold to a top of 290c, while steers 300kg to 400kg sold to 327c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 356c.

Jensco Grazing, Mount Perry, sold milk tooth santa steers for 316c/$1064.

The Kehl Family, Gin Gin, sold droughtmas­ter cross milk and two tooth steers for 287c/$1332.

JA&L Hetheringt­on, Dallarnil, sold milk tooth droughtmas­ter steers for 286c/$1366.

DW Williams, Woolooga, sold brangus weaner steers for 342c/$824.

D&K Boon, Wallaville, sold charolais cross weaner steers for 346c/$1016.

Rosedale Cattle Station sold droughtmas­ter cross weaner steers for 356c/$755.

Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold to a top of 292c. Heifers 200kg to 300kg topped at 300c.

FJ&BES Gibson, Biggenden, sold charolais cross milk tooth heifers for 288c/$1282.

Murphy & Trundell, Bundaberg, sold milk tooth droughtmas­ter heifers for 292c/$1022.

Santa hereford cross weaner heifers from Wandoan sold for 295c/$826.

A&VE McIntyre, Gin Gin, sold simmental cross weaner heifers for 292c/$673.

The Clark Family, Gin Gin, sold simbrah weaner heifers for 300c/$726.

R&A Rule, Bundaberg, sold angus cross weaner heifers 296c/$847.

Cattle were drawn from Wandoan, Moura, Monogorilb­y, Eidsvold, Gin Gin, Miva, Lowmead, Childers, Bundaberg, Miriam Vale, Yandaran, Mundubbera, Monto, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Maryboroug­h, Hervey Bay, Booubyjan, Windera, Rosedale and all local areas.

ROMA STORE

THERE was a yarding of 4786 head at Roma Store Sale, down 2000 head on last week.

All the usual buyers were present and operating in a market rewarding quality, however the dry of winter is now evident.

The cow market was mostly affected as growers lighten off and batten down the hatches, hopeful for early spring rain.

Calves topped at 374c to average 350c/kg.

Yearling steers to restockers, representi­ng the majority of the yarding, topped at 370c to average 294c/kg.

Feedlot entry weight steers topped at 317c to average 283c/kg.

Heavier steers to slaughter made to a top of 290c to average 265c/kg.

A handful of grown heifers made to 246c to average 193c/kg.

Light bulls returning to the paddock topped at 332c, while heavy bulls to slaughter averaged 248c/kg.

Cows to slaughter topped at 220c, while light conditione­d cows topped at 214c/kg and only a handful were returned to the paddock.

DALBY CATTLE

Numbers reduced by 16% at last week’s Dalby sale and young cattle were in the largest numbers and, similar to other markets, buyer attendance and activity was not as good as the previous week.

All classes sold to a cheaper trend with mixed sex calves returning to paddock averaging 22c/kg less.

Vealer heifers to feed lost 11c and light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 17c/kg cheaper.

Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 14c to 18c/kg easier.

Yearling heifers to feed averaged 5c to 8c/kg less.

Cows sold to a market 3c to 8c/kg cheaper, with the plain condition cows the least affected.

Steer calves returned to the paddock at 359.2c, with some heifer calves to 311.2c/kg.

Vealer heifers to feed mostly sold about 292c, with some to the trade making to 309.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers sold to restockers at an average of 322c with sales to 345.2c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 297c and made to 318.2c, while the heavy weights to feed sold about 289c with some to 300c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 282c and medium weights averaged 278c with sales to 293.2c/kg.

A handful of heavy grown steers made to 274.2c to average 273c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 198c and the best of the medium weights made to 218c/kg.

Good heavy cows made to 218.2c to average 216c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 282.2c/kg.

MURGON CATTLE

THE market for most descriptio­ns was tougher for the 600 yarded in Murgon on Tuesday.

Better quality weaner steers still sold to fairly firm values, topping at 366c/kg.

Values for export cattle, feeder types and weaner heifers were all easier.

Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Durong, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy and local areas. Very few export bullocks were yarded.

Heavy bulls sold to fairly firm rates, topping at 256c/kg for $2230.

Cows more than 500kg sold to 223c/kg and $1570.

Cows 400–500kg were cheaper, selling to 210c/kg and averaging 193c/kg.

Lighter cows lass than

400kg sold to 160c/kg. G&F Stumm, Goomeri, sold charolais cross steers for 300c/kg to return $1417.

L. Yesberg, Tansey, sold droughtmas­ter steers for $1462 (290c), $1417 (298c) and $1446 (273c).

S&D Hansen, Murgon, sold 420kg santa steers at $1180.

Angus cross steers 305kg from L&H Grant, Merlwood, sold to $979 at 305c/kg.

A draft of 64 droughtmas­ter steers with an average weight of 318kg from Myora Pastoral Johnstown sold for $936 at 302c/kg average.

Droughtmas­ter steers 312kg from M. Pethers, Mt McEuen, sold to $911 at 291c/kg.

Santa weaner steers 228kg from Wheatlands sold for 366c/kg to return $834.

Angus cross weaner steers from Yarraman sold for $783 at 358c/kg.

Charolais cross weaner steers 263kg from A&R Barsby, Tansey, sold for $891 at 338c/kg.

Stuart Dingle, Mt Perry, sold braford cross steers for 333c/kg for $720.

Kennedy & Hefferan, Murgon, also sold simmental cross weaner steers for 333c/kg for $743.

Light charbray weaner steers from Gayndah sold to $646 at 355c/kg.

Merlwood Enterprise­s sold a draft of 416kg crossbred heifers for an average of 263c/kg for $1095, the top being charbray heifers at 275c/kg and $1114.

Angus heifers 305kg sold for 285c/kg, returning $872.

Charolais weaner heifers from R&O Rankin, Brigooda, sold for $670 at 285c/kg.

Angus weaner heifers from S. Lavering, Kingaroy, sold for 280c/kg, returning $605.

The Davies family, Yarraman, sold braford cross weaner heifers for $681 at 275c/kg.

CROWS NEST CATTLE

THE most recent Ray White Crows Nest Sale had 160 quality head of cattle yarded.

Lines of charolais and doughmaste­r cross calves to about 10 months out of the Brisbane Valley sold to $1090 at an average of $950.

These cattle were well received, with eastern cattle doing very well locally.

Murray grey steers 12 months from Cooyar sold to $1020.

PTIC braford heifers ex Haden sold for $1190.

Older type murray grey cows in calf sold for $960.

Murray grey feeder steers ex Boodua saw terrific competitio­n from several feedlot buyers, with Oakey Beef Exports being the successful bidders to $1510.

A Goondiwind­i Feedlotter also purchased top quality 12–14 month angus and santa cross steers to $1310.
