FLY HIGH LITTLE COWGIRL

- Amy Lyne amy.lyne@thechronicle.com.au

A LITTLE girl who loved horses, Hope BunstonParfitt’s family and friends hope their “cowgirl” is now riding in the sky.

The two-year-old was tragically killed on Friday afternoon after she was stuck by a ute in the driveway of a Lockyer Valley home.

Paramedics were called to the property at Mount Berryman Rd, Blenheim, but sadly there was nothing that could be done to save her.

The community is rallying behind her mother Nicole Bunston and father Ben Parfitt, who are now faced with burying their little girl.

“My baby is in heaven tonight, why you had to join the angels I don’t know,” Ms Bunston wrote to her daughter in a public Facebook post on Friday night.

“But play all night baby, you have no bedtime any more. Pull all the flowers off those beautiful plants up there. I still can’t believe you’re gone.”

Ms Bunston said in another post she hoped her daughter was still with horses – that she was often pictured with alongside her mother and father.

“I hope you are having fun up there angel and God is letting you ride the big horses, not keeping you on Shetlands.

“I am sure you are getting away with everything.”

A Go Fund Me page set up by family member Tamara Parfitt on Saturday has so far raised more than $5000 as of last night.

“On Friday afternoon, a sweet princess was taken from this world way too young,” she wrote.

“She was the kindest little soul and was the most amazing little girl in the world.

“Sadly money is tight, and we need to raise money for her funeral.

“Any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated.

“Fly high little cowgirl, we love and miss you so much.”

The driver of the ute, a 51-year-old Blenheim man, is assisting police with inquiries but it is understood police are not expecting to charge anyone over the tragedy.

Hope’s death is the second across the region during the weekend, with a 50-year-old woman killed in a head-on crash near Warwick on Saturday.

The crash, which involved the woman’s car and a gas tanker, happened on the Cunningham Hwy at Clintonvale just before noon.

The Gold Coast woman was transported to Warwick Hospital in a serious condition but she died a short time later.

The driver of the truck was not physically injured.

Police believe the woman might have crossed onto the wrong side of the road. They are appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the Warwick crash to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating both of the weekend’s incidents.
