‘Shy kid’ takes music global

HE MIGHT have been raised in the Toowoomba region, but these days Stu Larsen tends to live out of a suitcase.

The singer-songwriter never really expected to leave his hometown of Bowenville, just outside of Jondaryan, but instead ended up giving away everything he owned except a guitar, a camera and a carry-on suitcase full of clothes, swapping his day job for a life of touring.

He recently took a break from his gruelling, worldwide tour schedule to lay down his second album, Resolute, which even featured a track called Going Back To Bowenville.

Mr Larsen said he made his way back home to the Darling Downs each year, but on the whole his life was so full he rarely found himself missing the sights of Bowenville.

It was quite the turnaround from his younger days.

“Believe it or not, I actually never thought I’ d travel,” he said.

“I was a shy kid. I didn’t want to talk to anyone.

“I thought, ‘I’m never going to leave this town. I’ll work a job here, and that’ll be it.’

“I got a small taste of travelling at some stage and fell in love with seeing the world.”

He hooked up with Passenger singer and guitar player Mike Rosenberg, who was

looking for someone to join him on tour and never looked back.

At the moment, the dedicated vagabond is on tour in Spain.

Resolute is now available through all major music streaming services including Spotify and iTunes as well as being available in CD and vinyl.
