THE WIN

THEY don’t come much gamer than Toowoomba mare REAL MYSTIQUE who delighted last-race favourite backers when she dug in to down Leprechaun Lad in the Benchmark 75 Handicap for Clifford Park win number five from nine outings.

THE TRAINER

ST GEORGE trainer PAT WEBSTER notched his third Clifford Park win of late when the class of Naranja prevailed in the Class 3 Plate to wrap up the five-year-old’s second Toowoomba win from two attempts.

THE RIDE

GARY GERAN has wasted no time getting back into the winning groove following a long injury lay-off and he can now add Clifford Park to his comeback win list after guiding Naranja to victory in the Class 3 Plate.

FROM THE STAND

Race one: There was specking for Giovane Amore at $4.60. The winner Redhaze was backed from $2.20 into $2 and the punters started off well. Race two: The phone money came quick for Cool Drafts with a bet of $2000 each-way at $3.20. The winner Soltinho Lad was $3.20 early and then the cash on track came with a bet of $1000 at $2.80 and a $1000 at $2.60. With the placings the bookies were knocked out. Race three: The favourite Charlie’s Dust was easy to lay at $2.10 and there was a phone bet of $3000 at that price. There was good money for Magic By with a bet of $700 at $4.40. The winner Avalanche Warning was supported on track at $8.

Race four: The bookies only got to lay the favourite here, Mustarrid. There was a phone bet of $2000 at $3.20. The winner Rock ‘N’ Rhumba was backed off course and no money came back to the track. Race five: The phone money was on Song One with a bet of $2000 at $2.30. There was small money on track for the winner Naranja with $2.35 bet late.

Race six: There was specking for Red Surprise at $4.40. The on-course punters were treated to $2.10 the winner Unique Magic and there was a cash bet of $2000 at $2 to give bookies a bad result. Race seven: There was specking for Leprechaun at $4.60. The winner Real Mystique was backed at $2 with a cash bet of $2000 and a bet of $2000 at $1.90 which sent the bookies home losers on the night.
