IT STARTED with the opening of Cafe 63 at Toowoomba’s Eastville development and now the brand is expanding rapidly into the city.

The Eastville cafe quickly became a hit with Toowoomba residents, either for a great coffee, breakfast or lunch.

An extension of the brand, Flowers 63, has now opened in the High Street Shopping Centre, exclusively offering a large selection of fresh flowers.

Project manager Pat Ekkasame said following the success of the Eastville Cafe 63, which opened in June last year, they decided to open the first of the new concept in Toowoomba.

“We want this to feel like a market, not a florist where you grab a bunch of flowers already done up,” Ms Ekkasame said.

The flower market has been in planning for about four months and opened last Tuesday.

“It is going very well so far. Customers like the smell and seeing flowers throughout the centre,” she said.

Rather than confined to a store in the shopping centre, the flowers will be spread out through most of the interior - much like a market.

“We have fresh flowers every day. We are fast and we can help put a bouquet together,” Ms Ekkasame said.

“I think the price is very reasonable.

“People can just pop down and get something for any occasion.”

Following the opening of Flowers 63, a second Cafe 63 which includes a drive-through, will open in the city’s newest development at The Intersection on the corner of Alderley and Ruthven Sts in South Toowoomba.

“We are introducing a new model by having staff actually go to your car and take the order, not via a Telecom,” said Ms Ekksame, who is also project manager for that project.

She said the second cafe would open on September 14. It will join other food outlets like Burger Urge, Subway and Oporto.

About five people are employed at Flowers 63 while the second Cafe 63 is looking to employ 20 to 30 people, which will happen in the coming weeks.

Flowers 63 is open every day from 8am to 5pm.
