Daniel will help you out as best he can

ALL Daniel Ross wants to do is help people out as best he can.

He’s the manager at Ultra Tune Toowoomba in Hill St and makes it his mission for the day to help out his customers to the best of his ability.

“I grew up in the country on a farm and you learn how to treat people. You treat them how you want to be treated,” he said.

“But you can also tell them how it is.”

Mr Ross, 28, has been the manager of the Hill St auto service centre since March, 2016.

After growing up on a dairy farm at Spring Creek and then moving to another farm with cattle and horses, Mr Ross spent a lot of time helping his dad work on tractors and fix machinery.

That interest soon progressed to cars and after he graduated from school in 2006, he started his apprenticeship in 2007 with the Ultra Tune auto service centre on Anzac Ave.

He worked his way up through the ranks until he was tapped on the shoulder and asked if he’d like to manage his own service centre.

While he said he enjoyed working on cars, the customer service aspect was what he loved most about the job.

“If I can go home and tell my wife about how I’ve helped someone out, it’s good,” he said.

As for a normal day in Mr Ross’ life, he said it started early in the morning fixing his wife Sam, 25, and their two children - stepson Zander, 4, and Corbin, 2, breakfast.

Then it was off to work to open the centre at 7.30am.

He said he would check voice-mail messages, make and answer calls, open the workshop, book customers in, do job sheets up for the mechanics and work on as many cars as he could in between answering phones.

“It’s a hectic day sometimes,” he said.

When he’s not at work, Mr Ross said he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He said he especially enjoyed cooking at the moment.

On weekends he would also head out to his family’s property for some target shooting and hunting kangaroos when it was needed.
