MEAT 'FLORIST' FOR MEN

- Meghan Harris meghan.harris@thechronicle.com.au

WHEN saying I love you, I’m sorry or thank you, there is the option of delivering flowers to women - but what do people do when wanting to thank the men in their lives?

A Toowoomba couple has the answer, you say it with meat.

Sean Kennedy and Liz Andrew launched their new business Say It With Meat last week, describing it as a florist for men.

“Just like females can receive a bunch of flowers, we wanted to be able to give the men in our lives something,” she said.

It’s for everything - saying thank you, I love you, I’m sorry I stuffed up. — Sean Kennedy

the couple went on a weekend away with friends last year.

Ms Andrew said the men did such a wonderful job organising the weekend and she wanted to send them a thank you gift but struggled to find anything.

“I couldn’t find anything, so after talking about it with Sean we thought maybe we could create something ourselves,” she said.

Mr Kennedy said a meat tray was the perfect gift any man.

“I think a lot of blokes love working with good cuts of meat and there is a rise in popularity in barbecuing and smoking meat,” he said.

“A lot of my friends do it and we wanted to take advantage of the fact nothing like this has been done.

“We’re concentrating on good quality cuts of meat. It’s not something you would buy for yourself on a weekly basis.”

The couple are using local butcher Luke Jensen and his cuts of meat from Westridge Meats and The Ridge.

Although the business has just launched the young couple already has their sights set on capital cities.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response so far and are excited to launch the business in different areas of Australia,” Mr Kennedy said.

“It’s not just for birthdays and anniversaries, it’s for everything - saying thank you, I love you, I’m sorry I stuffed up. It can relate to people everywhere.”

There are three options of meat trays ranging from $40 to $80 and include a range of meat including sausages, steak and ribs.

Orders can be delivered on the same day if ordered before 11am, otherwise it is next-day delivery or a date in the future can be selected.

Say It With Meat are taking pre-orders for Father’s Day, for meat trays to be delivered on Saturday, September 2.
