City Heart focuses on unique trends
The City Heart Fashion Event is back for its fifth year and is set to be a fantastic event. The event will shine a spotlight on the unique boutiques and promote Toowoomba as a ‘one-stop shop for all things fashion’
THE City Heart Fashion Event will showcase Toowoomba as a major fashion shopping precinct with more than 40 clothing stores being involved in the event in September.
Organisers Beau Minnett and Christine Coorey have revamped the runway event, which is now in its fifth year, to cater for the city’s growing population with the goal being for people to stop and shop in Toowoomba.
“We have so many unique boutiques in the city and we want to showcase the city as a one-stop shop for all things fashion,” Ms Minnett said.
“There has been a growing trend in Toowoomba, across the Darling Downs and south-west for the past few years of people shopping online.
“We want to stop this trend and encourage people to come back into the city to shop.
“We are comparable to any big city. We have the infrastructure to cater for all demographics and we want to help promote the city as a shopping precinct.”
More than 30 local models will take to the catwalk for the event, so not only will it showcase local fashion houses but also the local talent pool of models.
Former Home and Away star and lead singer of the band Interim Alec Snow will headline the event.
He will be joined by fellow band members James, Lachy, Jock and Matt, also originally from Toowoomba, on the runway.
Mr Snow said although the boys haven’t been on a catwalk before they were looking forward to coming home.
“Modelling is something new to us,” he said.
“But it will be a fun night and it is all about giving back to the people who have given us so much.”
Interim will be at Joyce Mayne for signings and a meet and greet from 9.30am to 10.30am on Saturday, September 9, before headlining the City Heart Fashion Event from 6pm.
