Youth worker to run for One Nation in election

-

ONE Nation has finally revealed its candidate for Toowoomba South ahead of the next state election.

Department of Child Safety youth worker Jeremy Scamp was picked last month to take on MP David Janetzki in the safe LNP seat, with the candidate’s Facebook page set up on July 20.

His prior work history includes careers with the Australian Defence Force and offshore detention security supervision.

Mr Scamp’s profile on the One Nation website said he planned to tackle “rising” youth crime rates.

“As a youth worker, Jeremy regularly talks with police about this issue, trying to understand a better way of finding meaningful and lasting solutions,” the profile reads.

“Jeremy is very concerned about the rising youth crime rate, and the limited power that our police have to effectively deal with youth on the streets.

“Jeremy shares the One Nation vision for the future of equality for all Australians, the future of his family, and the generations of his family to come.”

Mr Scamp joins fellow candidate Paul Wilson, who was selected to take on the LNP’s Trevor Watts and Labor’s Kerry Shine in Toowoomba North.

The right-wing party, headed in Queensland by ex-LNP MP Steve Dickson, now has 50 candidates ready to contest the election when it is called before May, 2018 by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
