TOOWOOMBA CATTLE

The number of stock penned experience­d a small lift and a fair panel of buyers was present, however not all were operating.

Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market lost a further 3c to 7c/kg following the large losses the previous sale.

All classes of yearling heifers were cheaper with losses of 20c to 30c/kg fairly common.

A smaller better quality line-up of bullocks sold to fair competitio­n and a larger number of cows experience­d some small losses of 2c to 5c/kg.

A single light weight yearling steer showing potential made to a very isolated 448.2c/kg.

A small sample of light weight yearling steers sold to restockers at an average of 326c with some to 340.2c/kg.

Yearling steers to feed in the 280-330kg range to make to 313.2c with most close to 308c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 295c and made to 302.2c/kg.

A handful of heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 277c and made to 282.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers mostly sold in the 250c/kg range with some to 262.2c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 254c and made to 271.2c and local trade lines averaged 244c and made to 270.2c/kg.

Bullocks made to 265.2c to average 262c/kg.

Poor condition medium weight cows averaged 149c and the best of the medium weights made to 201.2c to average 198c/kg.

Good heavy cows made to 210.2c to average close to 203c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 259.2c with one outstandin­g heavy bull returning $3125/ head.

BIGGENDEN CATTLE

Burnett Livestock and Realty’s meatworks and store sale on Monday saw a mixed quality yarding of 1616 head selling to a mostly firm market.

Heavy bulls topped at 254c; bullocks sold to 256c; cows over 500kg topped at 213c; cows 400kg to 500kg topped at 195c; trade heifers over 400kg topped at 277c.

Gary Jones, Biggenden sold Brahman cross bullocks for 255c/$1509.

Rod Fleischfre­sser, Boompa sold Brahman cross bullocks for 255c/$1595.

Gary Jones, Biggenden sold four to eight tooth heifers for 240c/$1350.

DP Christense­n, Goodnight Scrub sold Red Brahman cows for 213c/$1282.

Maryboroug­h Downs sold crossbred cows for 213c/$1124.

Feeder steers 400kg to 500kg sold to a top of 289c while steers 300kg to 400kg sold to 298c.

Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 354c. Santa Hereford cross steers with milk and two teeth from Wandoan sold for 289c/$1200.

Avocado Acres, Childers sold crossbred milk and two tooth steers for 277c/$1316.

Grey Brahman milk and two tooth steers from Rockhampto­n sold for 279c/$926.

Santa Hereford cross weaner steers from Wandoan sold for 339c/$898.

TW&RJ Hall, Goodwood sold Belmont Simmental cross weaner steers for 354c/$723.

Glengarvey P/L, Mundubbera sold Angus cross weaner steers for 352c/$826.

Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold to a top of 278c. Heifers 200kg to 300kg topped at 338c.

Santa Hereford cross milk and two tooth heifers from Wandoan sold for 277c/$1143.

Peter Colyer, Coalstoun Lakes sold Charolais cross milk tooth heifers for 278c/$826.

BJ&L Williamson, Gin Gin sold milk tooth Santa Gertrudis heifers for 278c/$1021.

Gaeta View Grazing, Dallarnil sold milk and two tooth Brahman cross heifers for 278c/$1000.

Tim Moodie Contractin­g, Bundaberg sold quiet Red Brahman heifers for 331c/$861.

TW&RJ Hall, Goodwood sold Belmont Simmental cross weaner heifers for 302c/$658.

Peter Colyer, Coalstoun Lakes sold Angus cross weaner heifers for 308c/$868.

Cattle were drawn from Wandoan, Rockhampto­n, Monogorilb­y, Eidsvold, Gin Gin, Miva, Lowmead, Childers, Bundaberg, Miriam Vale, Yandaran, Mundubbera, Monto, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Maryboroug­h, Hervey Bay, Booubyjan, Windera, Rosedale and all local areas.

The next Biggenden meatworks and store sale is Monday, September 4.

MURGON CATTLE

It was a softer market throughout for all the 850 head yarded in Murgon on Tuesday.

The combinatio­n of easing processing prices and dry weather conditions saw most descriptio­ns cheaper than the market two weeks ago.

Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy and locally.

Heavy bulls topped at $2.65 c/kg and $2800.

Bullocks sold to $2.559 c/kg and $1697.

Export heifers sold to $2.49 c/kg for $1450.

Cows over 500 kg sold to a top of $2.07 c/kg or $1650.

Cows in the 400 – 500 kg bracket averaged $1.80 c/kg to a top of $2.05 c/kg.

Lighter cows under 400 kg sold to $1.80 c/kg.

Droughtmas­ter steers a/c M Donahue Tansey sold for $2.77 and $2.67 respective­ly to return $1254 and $1224.

338 kg Hereford x steers a/c K Grimes sold for $976 at $2.88 c/kg.

Angus steers from W Sampson Yarraman sold for $898 at $2.87 c/kg.

G Savage Murgon sold 300 kg Square Meter cross steers for $886.00 and $2.93 c/kg.

Droughtmas­ter steers from Booubyjan sold for $2.94 c/kg and $820.

R& F Nichol Mt Perry sold Charbray weaner steers for $3.07 c/kg returning $735.

Charolais cross weaner steers from J& B Smith Brigooda sold for $3.06 c/kg returning $845.

R Dower Tingoora also sold Charolais weaner steers for $797 at $3.11 c/kg.

G& T Campbell Paradise Dam sold two pens of Santa weaner steers for $3.03 c/kg returning $768 and $653.

J& M Zillman Gayndah sold Santa weaner steers for $750 (3.06), $676 (3.09) and $707 (3.11).

318 kg Hereford heifers sold to $827.00 at $2.60 c/kg. Brangus heifers from Koobooda Grazing Gayndah sold for $694 at $2.73 c/kg.

Santa weaner heifers from Gayndah sold to $2.78 c/kg to return $676.

Droughtmas­ter weaner heifers from Tansey sold for $697.00 at $2.75 c/kg.

Charolais weaner heifers weighing 240 kg sold to $660 at $2.74 c/kg.

Brahman weaner heifers from G Pearce Murgon sold for $2.80 c/kg returning $672.

Fresher weaner heifers sold between $2.60 and $2.75, while plainer store types sold in the $2.40 to $2.60 c/kg bracket.

ROMA PRIME

There was a yarding of 4952 head today at Roma Store Sale this week, down 1430 head on last week.

All buyers were present along with active restockers operating in a stronger market where the majority of the yarding were young heifers.

There 1000 fewer steers presented for competitio­n.

The feedlot entry weight steers were limited and sort after and an influx of young light calves and yearlings were presented.

There were quality runs however the balance were showing signs of the dry as winter bites in.

Calves topped at 364c to average 303c/kg.

Yearling steers topped at 354.2c to average 319c/kg.

Feedlot entry weight steers topped at 334.2c to average 284c/kg.

Yearling heifers topped at 289.2c and averaged 258c/kg.

Feedlot entry weight heifers made to 276c to average 258c/kg.

Grown steers 4-6 tooth made to a top of 268.2c to average 260c/kg.

Grown heifers made to 244c to average 236c/kg.

Young bulls made to 330c to average 262.2c/kg and heavy bulls topped at 258c/kg.

Cows over 400kg topped at 235c lifting on last week to average 201c/kg.

WARWICK CATTLE

Similar to most other markets the supply of stock into the saleyards experience­d a small decline.

A fair panel of buyers was present and most were operating cautiously.

Prices for light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock continued to lose ground in price according to quality.

Most classes of yearling steers to feed experience­d very little change in price.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 7c dearer however the feed and slaughter lines averaged 2c to 9c/kg less.

A much smaller yarding of cows sold to a market close to the previous week’s level.

The occasional steer calf showing potential made to a very isolated 810c/kg.

A handful of well bred vealer heifers sold to the local meat market at 333.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers sold to restockers at an average of 325c with some to 351.2c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 292c and made to 313.2c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold up to 280c with some to 295c while a couple of B muscle classes to the trade made to 312.2c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 285c while the feeder lines averaged 278c and made to 299.2c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 249c and made to 264.2c/kg.

Medium weight 3 score cows averaged 193c and made to 196.2c/kg.

A handful of good heavy cows made to 211.2c to average close to 205c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 280.2c/kg.

DALBY CATTLE

Numbers increased by 1085 head to 4746 at Dalby last week and overall quality was fair to good.

The usual panel of buyers were present and most were operating in a generally cheaper market.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 13c less and the better end of the heavy weights lost 4c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed were cheaper from 14c to 25c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export slaughter averaged 11c less and cows lost a similar amount to average 9c to 10c/kg easier.

However, PTIC cows were in demand and improved in price.

Medium weight yearling steers sold from 286.2c to 319.2c with heavy weights making from 275c to 296.2c to average 287.5c/kg.

Yearling heifers in the 330-400kg range made from 240c to 273.2c to average 255.3c/kg.

Grown steers in the 400-500kg range made from 251.2c to 264.2c and averaged 258c, back 12c/kg.

Grown heifers to slaughter sold from 213.2c to 235c to average 223.6c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 263.2c/kg.
