Free CSG workshop for landholders
WESTERN Downs and Maranoa landholders wanting to learn more about a new local gas project and what changes to mining and coal seam gas laws will mean for them are encouraged to attend free workshops in Roma and Chinchilla next week.
AgForce CSG Project Leader Daniel Phipps said landholders attending the Advanced CSG Negotiation Support workshops in Roma and Chinchilla would be updated on the Senex Energy expansion proposal, how a new Land Access Ombudsman will work, and the latest water impact assessments.
“Senex Energy recently applied to the Queensland Government to amend their Environmental Authority to expand their Western Surat Gas Project, including staged drilling of up to 425 wells, and up to three gas field compression and associated facilities,” he said.
“This application is an important reminder that the CSG industry will continue to expand across the Surat Basin region, with around 6000 production wells drilled so far and up to 20,000 required across the lifespan of the industry.
“It’s critical landholders remain aware of increasing industry activities, changes to groundwater predictions and what changes to legislation and government policies mean for them.
“The Roma and Chinchilla workshops will discuss the roles and functions of the new Land Access Ombudsman, while representatives from the Department of Natural Resources and Mines’ CSG Compliance Unit will be on hand to respond to landholders’ concerns.”
The workshops run from 9am to 1pm in Roma on Tuesday and Chinchilla on Wednesday. Registrations are free, but essential.
