BRAELYN Herefords have been in operation for almost 40 years using selective breeding under commercial conditions.
And for 15 years they have been assessing feedback information from Whyalla Feedlot for growth and carcase traits.
Braelyn bulls will produce progeny to hit market specifications.
Their objective is to produce easy care herefords of moderate frame with milk tooth EU steers entering Whyalla Feedlot at Texas at 450–500kg, gaining weight and marbling when fed for 120 days.
Hereford bulls, when crossed, will improve marketing options through MSA compliance, while purebreds will attract premiums into JBS Hereford Boss and Nippon Hereford reserve brands.
Braelyn Herefords have catalogued four horned bulls for the Toowoomba Beef Expo Spring Classic Sale at 10am on Thursday, August 31, at the showgrounds.
Horned and three polled bulls are catalogued for the Monto All Breed Bull Sale at
9am on Saturday, September 9.
Horned sires represented include Yarram Unique F107 and Cootharaba Simpson G170 while polled sires are grandsons of Mt Difficult Fellis Y12.
Catalogues are available from Landmark Toowoomba and Monto Cattle and Country.
A new polled sire introduced this year is Allendale Washington G82.
He has been used in the Allendale stud and was selected for his great structure along with low birth weight and high marbling (IMF) figures on BREEDPLAN.
His sire Waterhouse is a leading sire within the breed while his dam has five sons used in studs, including top price at Dubbo in 2016, purchased by Devon Court.
