Irrigation property goes under the hammer

-

LOCATED about 37km west of Toowoomba, near Jondaryan on the Warrego Hwy, is the productive irrigation property Durham Park.

Consisting of 198.4 hectares, the property contains 161.9 hectares of black to chocolate soil cultivation.

The standout feature is the irrigation on the property, comprising of a groundwater allocation of 200 megalitres with three equipped irrigation bores, all interconnected. In addition there is an allocation from Oakey Creek with a nominal volume of 72 megalitres. Water is pumped via 200mm PVC to 2 x 5 span Zimmatic centre pivots down the centre of the property. In all, there are 4.5 circles which are used to irrigate crops like lucerne, grain and cereal crops, cotton and now astute operators in the area are realising that this area is ideally suited to the growing of small crops.

In addition to the centre pivots, there are spray lines which are used to irrigate the lucerne. In addition to the irrigation there is a domestic electric bore and a pump on Oakey Creek for water for the garden and livestock.

Durham Park has a grand turn-of-the-century homestead, which is perfectly positioned overlooking the picturesque Oakey Creek. The home has large wide verandas, large modern eat-in kitchen and living area, formal lounge with fireplace, three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Features of the home are the pressed metal ceilings and polished pine floorboards. The majority of the other structures on the property are in near new condition, and include a 48m x 12m steel frame machinery shed, which is enclosed on three sides, plus an 18m x 12m steel frame workshop shed which has three-phase power connected, plus two new 73-tonne Sherwell silos, and new steel cattle yard complex with full squeeze cattle crush and branding cradle plus large holding yard and laneway system to the improved pastured cattle country.

For the horse lovers, there is a new six-horse 18m hot walker, fully automatic with forward and reverse plus.

Durham Park will be auctioned at Picnic Point Toowoomba, on Friday, September 22, at 11am. Call Matt Cleary at Ray White Rural Pittsworth on 0428 987 340.
