Rate satisfaction with council
Survey to assess community opinion on regional council’s services, performance
TOOWOOMBA Regional Council will survey residents this month, asking them to rate their satisfaction with the council services.
The Toowoomba Region Community Survey is run by market research consultants, IRIS Research, from now until Friday, September 15.
Mayor Paul Antonio said the survey would assess community satisfaction with the council’s performance and identify ways to provide improved service.
“The survey will enable us to identify priorities for the region and improve services and communication with our communities,” he said.
“Survey results will contribute to the development of the next corporate plan to set the council’s direction and priorities from 2020-2024.”
About 800 residents over the age of 18 will be selected randomly to complete the survey by telephone.
The sample will have a demographic spread across age, gender and location to ensure survey results are representative of the region.
The broader community will also have the opportunity to complete the survey online at the council’s Your Say website.
This can be done from September 4 to 15 and hard copy surveys will be available from customer service centres and libraries.
The survey comes after more than 200 residents passed a vote of no confidence in Southern Downs Regional Council and its CEO David Keenan.
The residents converged on Sullivan Oval in Stanthorpe on Monday night to air their grievances over the council’s recent decisions on Emu Swamp Dam and the Invasive Pest Control Scheme.
Robert Hudson, who moved the vote of no confidence in the council, said the Invasive Pest Scheme took away a landholder’s right to deal with pests and weeds as they saw fit.
The lack of confidence motions were part of five motions that were tabled by Granite Belt Community Association president Alan Colyr.
