Dragons ready for NICL finals
Jeremy Crighton is a rising star in Australian indoor cricket and will get to test himself against the best from across the country.
Crighton will travel to Melbourne with the Toowoomba Dragons today as they prepare for the inaugural National Indoor Cricket League finals.
This competition pits the best club teams from the various states against each other to test who is the best.
The Dragons took out the south-east Queensland premiership and will attempt to build on that success in Melbourne from Friday.
“I know a lot of the boys are up for it as we’ve put in a lot of effort. It’s an exciting concept,” said Crighton, an Australian under 21 representative.
Teams from other states are bound to have representative players in their ranks but that is not something the Dragons fear.
Current Australian captain Lyle Teske has recovered from injury and will play for the Dragons this week alongside former national skipper Troy Gurski.
Throw in the likes of Crighton, current Queensland representative Blake Anderson and revered coach Alan Wilson and the Dragons have plenty of their own big guns.
“I have really enjoyed my cricket this year with the concept, the NICL. I’ve really enjoyed training with Lyle and Troy and Allan as well,” Crighton said.
Teske has declared himself available for the NICL finals after missing the end of the SEQ season through injury.
And while he has achieved everything you can in indoor cricket, he is excited about the opportunity to vie for best club team in Australia.
“You always say you want to play the best to see if you can beat them all and we get our chance,” Teske said.
