Cressbrook still producing the area’s best quality fish
CRESSBROOK DAM
CRESSBROOK has been producing the best quality fish around our local area this week with some good-size bass, well over 50 centimetres, landed.
Tailspinners and spoons are proving the lure of choice.
Live shrimp have been the best bait to use.
COOBY DAM
COOBY has continued to produce some nice fish over the past week mainly on salt water yabbies and ZX blades fishing the deeper water.
The northern end of the dam still seems to be the best option.
Locating the fish close to the bottom will be your best bet.
SOMERSET DAM
SOMERSET is still producing big bass.
Fish are very spread all throughout the dam.
Casting spoons and tailspinners have been the best option.
The larger fish seem to have moved up the dam with the Kirkleigh Flats being the best area.
Red Rock is also holding good numbers of fish.
COPETON DAM
COPETON continues to produce some giant cod with the morning bites still the pick of the times.
Large topwaters and shallow swimbaits have been getting the most attention.
As the day heats up the fish have been caught on mumblers and spinnerbaits grubbed along the bottom out from the steep rocky banks while the early mornings and late afternoons have been on the up in the shallow grassy bays.
BOONDOOMA DAM
LAST weekend BASS Nation held its final tournament of the year.
With the big lead-up to the competition with some big fish landed, a lot of fish were weighed in at the weekend.
The outstanding lures for the comp were the Hot Bite Gang Banger Spoon and the Nories Wasabi Spoon.
Fishing areas such as Pelican Point, the unction
and the main basin all held big numbers of fish.
MORETON BAY
IT’S the perfect time of year
to be in the bay with good numbers of squire around the reefs and islands. The key is early morning or midweek sessions.
The boat pressure seems to be slowing them down through the day. Sun-up will see the best bite window with many anglers grabbing themselves 10 or so good snapper for the morning.
Both bait and soft plastics work really well and a burley pot can do wonders.
