Going to Xtreme for kids

- Suzanna Hindle news@ruralweekly.com

FIVE determined mothers in central Queensland have decided to go big with a major fundraiser for the Theodore Early Childhood Centre.

Bronwyn Brunton, Jane Conway, Jess Weimnar, Natalie Goodland and Suzanna Hindle are staging Theodore’s Xtreme 1 Bulls and Barrels Bonanza to help raise much-needed funds for their local kindergarten and daycare centre.

Joining forces at the beginning of the year, these busy ladies have started organising a rodeo featuring bulls and barrel racing and are eager to see this new event become a huge success.

TECCA treasurer and spokesperson Bronwyn Brunton moved to a cattle property north of Theodore with her husband and three young girls in 2014.

“This year I wanted to join the committee to help with

fundraising,” she said.

“It is a bonus to be working with an amazing group of dedicated and like-minded women.”

The Theodore Early Childhood Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on the support of locals and fundraising events to

keep the doors open for the children of Theodore and surrounding areas.

This essential service operates as a combined kindergarten and daycare centre for the community.

The TECCA committee members have made it their mission to organise a rodeo that will appeal to everyone.

It is a huge task for the ladies but they are dedicated and driven to mark it as a permanent event on Theodore’s tourism calendar.

Already securing the October 7 date at the Theodore Showgrounds, they have organised a stellar night featuring bucking bulls, barrel racing, food, bar and live music.

Local business Xtreme 1 Servo Theodore has come on board as principal sponsor for the event and is excited to be working with TECCA to help make the fundraiser a success.

The profits from the rodeo will go towards overhauling the outside of the centre, making way for new play equipment, grassed areas and a sensory water area for the children.

“This rodeo is huge for us. We are excited about working with Xtreme 1 and motivated to make it a great family night out in Theodore,” Mrs Brunton said.

TECCA will be actively promoting the rodeo throughout Queensland until October, which is affiliated with the Central Rodeo Cowboys Association (CRCA).
