Stanthorpe family man will help children after becoming millionaire

-

A STANTHORPE man is jumping for joy after getting a call he had been waiting for his whole life.

The man picked up just more than $1 million after winning the division one prize in Monday night’s Gold Lotto draw.

The new millionaire erupted into celebration after learning the news he was one of four division one winners nationally, including another from Queensland, one from South Australia and one from Western Australia.

Described as a hard-working family man, the winner had no idea of his good fortune until a Golden Casket official called him yesterday morning.

“One million dollars! Woohoo! That’s incredible,” the man said.

“I’ve been waiting for a call like this all my life. It’s just too good.

“I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say. It’s just amazing.”

The man knows exactly what he will do with his new millionaire status.

“I really want to help my kids and set them up for the future. They’re my number one priority. Seeing them happy will make me happy,” he said.

As well as winning division one, the man’s system entry also won division three 30 times and division four 150 times taking his win to $1,030,795.

The winning entry was bought from Stanthorpe Newsagency, which is now also celebrating according to owner Michael Bentley.

“It’s a great win for the town and about time – it’s our first division one,” Mr Bentley said.

“It’s good to think that one of our customers is now a millionaire.

“We wish the winner all the very best with their windfall and hope another one of our customers becomes a division one winner soon.”

The winning numbers in Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3692 yesterday were 13, 8, 16, 24, 37 and 7 with supplementary numbers 5 and 20.
