HAVE you ever dreamed of being able to have fish and chips while gazing out upon the coast, while never leaving the comfort of Toowoomba?

Now you can, with Stoney’s Seafood Café at The Range Shopping Centre!

Guests can relax at one of the comfortable table settings while enjoying the Whitsunday’s coastal scene cleverly created using windows.

Owner Robert Stone is keen for Stoney the Fishmonger’s new venture, since customers often want to try their fresh seafood as prepared by an expert.

“We decided to create somewhere where they could do that,” Mr Stone said.

“Customers can sit down and partake in good seafood,” he said.

“We’ve also employed a chef this time round, so it’s not just a fish and chip shop — it’s more a seafood café.”

They are also looking forward to attaining a liquour licence.

Most of the menu is seafood-based, with delicious options such as scallop pie and oysters three ways.

“It’s a seafood-based environment, so even the cheese platter includes salmon,” Mr Stone said.

“The idea is that everything is seasonal,” he said.

“So Tassie scallops are in season, so that’s why we’ve got the scallop pie on the menu.”

This means the menu will change every few months, ensuring seafood is always fresh and the menu never gets stale.

The team at Stoney’s fillet all their own fish and open their oysters daily, with Mr Stone going down to the fish markets every couple of days, meaning their seafood is just as fresh as those fish and chip shops on the coast or Brisbane.

Even though the seafood café only opened last Thursday, Mr Stone has already received feedback from locals saying how good it was to have a fish shop at The Range again after the last one closed down.

“Locals just walk around the corner to us,” Mr Stone said.

In addition to all this, almost all of their seafood is Australian — the only exception being occasionally flying some in from New Zealand.

So why not enjoy the freshest seafood in Toowoomba today?
