FOOTBALL:

You can add Clive Berghofer Stadium to the list of places you need to watch out for Magpies this weekend.

These Magpies at Clive Berghofer Stadium won’t swoop you though as they have their sights set on flying high in Toowoomba Football League grand finals.

The Willowburn Magpies will feature in all four senior TFL grand finals at Clive Berghofer Stadium on Sunday in what is a great achievement in itself for the Toowoomba club.

Willowburn will take on USQ in the Premier Men’s decider aiming to add grand final victory to its list of President’s Cup and minor premiership successes.

The Magpies will also meet USQ in the Reserve Men’s decider on top of taking on Rockville in the Senior Women’s decider and Chinchilla in the Men’s Championship climax.

“It will be a pretty big day, win or lose. As a club we’re excited,” Willowburn Premier Men’s coach Nick Rundle said.

Willowburn downed USQ 4-1 in the major semi-final a fortnight ago but Rundle knows his team will need to be at its best to prevail.

Grand final day will also be big for USQ, which has two teams in four deciders.

It is the first since 2013 USQ has qualified for the Premier and Reserve Men grand finals.

That could be a good omen as USQ downed Willowburn in a grand final penalty shoot-out to claim the Premier Men’s title that year.

Honours have been shared in meetings between the two clubs this season.

“That’s always a bonus when you have got one against them,” USQ president Paul Smith said.

Meanwhile, Rockville will be out to secure the President’s Cup, minor premiership and grand final treble when it takes on Willowburn in the Senior Women’s decider.

It has been a big season for Rockville and it can finish strongly with a win in the grand final.

Rockville goes into the decider on a high after downing Willowburn 3-0 in the major semi-final two weeks ago.
