Top bulls go under hammer for $18,000

NEW and familiar faces gathered to form a large crowd attending the 13th Annual New Dimension Braford Bull and Female Sale at Bell Showground­s recently.

Long-time supporters of the braford breed, Arthur and Vanessa Bambling, from Gayndah opened the sale.

Braford bulls sold for a top price of $18,000 on two occasions.

Both bulls were offered by the Amor family Carinya stud at Dulacca, and were purchased by the Meek family Cargara Cattle Co at Augathella.

Building on its reputation for being the braford breed’s largest multi-vendor female sale, registered braford females sold for a top price of $5000.

The heifer, 19-month-old Carinya 2849, offered by John and Jackie Amor of “Carinya” stud at Dulacca, was bought by Stewart Anderson of “Devils Nest” Theodore, bidding on the phone.

The proceeds from this heifer were donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The top price in the younger portion of the registered females section (12 months and under) of $3250 was paid for Lot 55 Ashby Marissa, offered by the Donovan Family of Ashby stud, Jimbour.

It was bought by Lindsay and Lenore Ruhle, Linlora Braford stud at Allora.

Nine quality commercial females were offered by three vendors.

Craig and Kathy Knauth Nungil Brafords at Brymaroo offered three females to

average $1533.

Max and Dorn Roddau, Limevale Brafords at Dalby, offered three females to average $933.

Robert and Lesette Hoffman Downfall Creek Brafords at Guluguba offered three females to average $1500.

Overall, there were 14 braford bulls sold to a top of $18,000 and an average of $7571, with a 74% clearance.

35 registered braford females sold to a top of $5000, with an average of $2400 and a 98% clearance.

Nine commercial braford females sold to a top of $1600, with an average of $1190 and a 100% clearance. Vendor’s sale results:

John and Jackie Amor, Carinya, Dulacca, - four Bulls for an average of $16 000,

10 Registered Females for an average of $3025.

Donovan Family Ashby, Jimbour – three bulls for an average of $6333, and 10 registered females for an average of $2025.

Robert and Lesette Hoffman Downfall Creek, Guluguba - two registered

females for an average of $1625 and three commercial females for an average of $1500.

Craig and Kathy Knauth, Nungil, Brymaroo, three commercial females for an average of $1533.

Bennett Family – Little Valley, Casino – two bulls for an average of $3500, and two registered females for an average of $3250.

McNamara Family, Strathgyle, Bell, - three bulls for an average of $3333, and five registered females for an average of $2050.

Neil Pacholke, Sunnylawn, Clifton - one bull for $3000.

Max and Dorn Roddau, Limevale, Dalby, three commercial females for an average of $933.

Rhonda Ryan, Banyula, Emerald – four registered females for an average of $2125

Scott and Veronica Skerman, Rarcamba, Wandoan – one bull for $3000, and two registered females for an average of $2500.
