Readers take aim at same sex marriage propaganda

CHRONICLE readers have spoken out over Coalition for Marriage pamphlets that began circulating in Toowoomba’s letterboxes this week.

Yesterday’s story on the Coalition for Marriage’s claims that legalising same-sex marriage would have detrimental effects on children riled readers, who fired back with their own messages.

The flyers claimed same-sex marriage would affect the classroom in three ways - that there would be: “more radical gay and lesbian sex ‘education’ programs in schools, “kids will be taught their gender is fluid” and the changes would lead to a “loss of parents’ rights”.

Posting on social media yesterday, Chronicle reader Shara Helmstedt proudly declared: “Won’t be delivered to my house!”, attaching a photo of her letterbox (pictured right).

Jason McErlean said he “didn’t understand why kids have to be drawn into this debate”.

“It’s got absolutely nothing to do with kids. My partner and I have children who are well adjusted, achieving and loved,” he said

loved and cherished by us.”

Samantha Eddy took a different point of view, stating: “I think everyone should be able to make their own choice yes or no!”

“I found mine awesome to read I work with children and everything in the pamphlet was true... why fight and argue about it. It’s all about your own choice yes or no. I myself with be ticking no regardless of the hate and ridicule I get!”

Others said the Coalition for Marriage should be putting up “relevant” arguments.
