Rising stars post promising victories
Chris Brackin is quickly building an impressive record as a professional boxer after his latest success in Toowoomba.
Brackin made it two wins by stoppage from just two professional fights when he defeated Warwick’s Kyle Teer (3-15-1) in the main event at the first Super Sunday Series at Smithy’s TGW Gym in Newtown.
There were some frenetic moments during the fight as Brackin went on the attack.
He built the pressure on Teer in the third round and the referee stopped the fight two minutes five seconds into the third round.
Brackin’s unbeaten record of two wins by stoppage could start to open some doors for the Darling Downs teenager.
That result came after Toowoomba’s Joel Stower (4-1-0) recorded a win by decision over Olaf Olsen (4-4-1) in the other professional bout on the card for rising stars.
Event promoter and trainer of Brackin and Stower, Brendon Smith thought the results were great for his charges.
He was also happy with the event, which also featured amateur and corporate bouts.
“I think great wins for the young blokes. They’re improving every fight,” Smith said.
“This is what this whole series is about, for the young guns, for them to grow. I think it was a great Sunday and we’ll see more of them.
“This is what develops the new stars for the bigger fights, so for all of the amateurs and our young pros to get to fight in front of their home town, it was great. It’s helping them prep for our bigger shows.”
Team Viking also took out the Viking-Barbarian Cup 5-2 in the corporate bouts.
