Queensland Pops Orchestra stars musical legend

-

ONE of Australia’s most loved musical theatre stars will be on the Empire Theatre stage alongside the Queensland Pops Orchestra for Broadway and Beyond on Sunday October 8.

Conducted by Patrick Pickett, the Queensland Pops Broadway and Beyond brings to life the cream of Broadway musical theatre in a visual and musical spectacular with everything from “Fair Lady to Phantom” and “Lanza to Lloyd Webber”.

Special guest star, Teddy Tahu-Rhodes, is one of Australia’s brightest stars of the stage, having performed internationally and received an impressive tally of awards from leading roles in South Pacific, The King and I and Don Giovanni.

Teddy enjoys a wide and varied stage repertoire, having won leading roles in recent Opera Australia and international productions including A Streetcar Named Desire, Dead Man Walking, Tosca and Faust.

After their stunning debut with the Queensland Pops Orchestra in 2016, a highly talented singing troupe from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University Musical Theatre make a much-anticipated return to the Empire Theatre stage.

Queensland Pops Orchestra’s Broadway and Beyond, as part of the Empire Theatre’s Daytime Series, gives audiences the opportunity to see this acclaimed orchestra locally without travelling to Brisbane.

Formerly known as Morning Melodies, The Daytime Series proudly sponsored by Beauaraba Living, brings a mixture of Thursday morning and Sunday afternoon performances to the theatre.

The series continues on October 12 with Back to the Tivoli before concluding on December 7 with Craig Martin’s A Swinging Christmas Show.
