So much more to island paradise
IAM slowly starting to see why Bali is such a popular holiday destination for Aussies. For years, just as journalist Sharon Luck writes in her story on the island, I too thought Bali was all about Bintang and Kuta’s nightlife.
But as Sharon discovers, Bali can be a luxury stay even when on a budget.
Find out more about her experience in the escape section in this edition of Weekend.
If, however, you are unable to venture overseas this summer, there are also many wonderful beachside destinations in Queensland and New South Wales.
Kingscliff, in northern NSW, has a wonderful mix of farms and foodies that is sure to satisfy a need for a rural stay and will also make tastebuds sing.
Find out more on our escape page.
Or if walking is more your thing, you might want to follow in the footsteps of a pair of tourists currently on an epic 6500km trek.
They decided to see Australia from a different perspective, and set out on foot from Cape York in Queensland’s north in June.
Their trip will finish at the southern tip of Tasmania.
Find out more about what they have learnt about the Aussie countryside, and themselves, in this Weekend.
And, please do not hate us too much, but now is the perfect time to think about starting your Christmas puds and other baked goods. Maggie Cooper has offered a lovely Christmas gift recipe in our taste section.
Let us know what you think about her recipe, or any of our stories.
