Fashionistas hit the stage for City Heart
THE City Heart Fashion Event was like Toowoomba’s own fashion week in one night, said organiser Beau Minnett.
The fashion parade, held at the Empire Theatre’s Armitage Centre on Saturday, took inspiration from Sydney and Melbourne fashion weeks and showcased Toowoomba as a major fashion shopping precinct.
Ms Minnett said shops from both the CBD and Grand Central Shopping Centre were involved.
“We want to make Toowoomba the shopping hub of the south east and the Darling Downs,” she said.
Ms Minnett said the event was very successful, with tickets selling out before the show and more VIP tickets released to cater for the increased interest.
She said former Home and Away star and lead singer of the band Interim Alec Snow headlined the show and Australian model Kris Smith was the surprise special guest.
“He was in the front row and was very impressed with our models,” she said.
“Our models were next level - you wouldn’t know that they were local girls.”
The event’s after party was held at The Cube, where staff created beautiful cocktails for the occasion.
“They made the drinks specially for us, so that was really cool,” Ms Minnett said.
The City Heart Fashion Event concept was started five years ago by Toowoomba woman Christine Coorey from 3 Little Monkeys.
Since then, Ms Minnett joined the team and helped drive it to where it is today.
