Chasing love also finds a great career for Lachlan

A DAY IN THE LIFE

IF YOU had a choice between choosing your career or chasing love, which would you pick?

Luckily for Toowoomba man Lachlan Marwood, choosing love worked out just fine.

Mr Marwood grew up in New South Wales, but moved up to Queensland to study at the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

He did have a spot at a Melbourne university to study music, but he wanted to see what Brisbane was like and what it had to offer.

So he enrolled in exercise physiology at UQ.

But during his first year, he met a girl.

She was studying to be a physiotherapist and so when he got to the end of his first year, he decided to switch degrees and study to be a physiotherapist too.

Luckily for him, he started dating that girl and now, a few years later, they’ve been happily married for three years.

But, he’s also lucky in other ways too - he loves his job as a physiotherapist.

“We’re both working as physiotherapists now, but she’s in a different clinic to me,” he said.

Mr Marwood and his wife both came from the country, so he said they loved living in Toowoomba.

Mr Marwood, who works for Wiltshire Health Physiotherapy and Psychology in South St, Toowoomba, said he loved working in an occupation where he was able to help people every single day.

“I love having a big impact on people and helping them,” he said. “It’s really rewarding.” Mr Marwood said that he enjoyed the diversity of his

clients and his days.

“One day I might be treating a retiree or another day I might be treating an athlete,” he said.

“Every day I can help people with things that are important to them and their lives.”

As for a typical work day, Mr Marwood said his day would start about 7am with a good breakfast before heading into the office at about 8am or 8.30am.

“On a busy day I might see about 18 patients or another day I might see 12,” he said.

At the end of the day, he liked to unwind by watching Suits.

When he’s not working, Mr Marwood said he enjoyed spending time with his wife and their friends.

He said his hobbies included playing his Xbox (Fallout 4 was currently his game of choice) and going four-wheel-driving.

He said he liked taking his car out to places like the Glasshouse Mountains, the Gold Coast hinterland and other national parks and exploring what they had to offer.
