THE thing you need to remember about the Brownlow is that these women are normal - just like you and me.
Well, except for the fact that they’re either dating or married to some rather hunky football players (in this case, AFL players).
They’re not like the Angelina Jolies, the Jennifer Lawrences or the Nicole Kidmans who grace the red carpets at events like the Academy Awards or the Golden Globes.
They’re just normal people, trying to support their partners during the AFL’s yearly awards ceremony.
And unlike those celebrities, they don’t have the same luxury of spending all the time in the world getting ready for the red carpet.
While there were some simply stunning dresses on this year’s red carpet, there wasn’t really anything that was so horrendous that it should end up on a worst dressed list.
With red carpet regulars Nadia Bartel, Rebecca Judd and Jesinta Franklin absent, it was left to others to kick a few goals.
The stand-outs of the evening, however, included Jordan Ablett, the partner of player Gary Ablett, in a stunning nude-coloured creation by red carpet royalty J’Aton Couture and Lauren Tscharke, the partner of Carlton player Bryce Gibbs who wore a gorgeous black low-cut dress with a thigh-high split reminiscent of Angelina Jolie’s right leg pose from the 2012 Academy Awards.
Baby bumps also proved to be great accessories, with a number of women, including Jesse Murphy (the wife of Carlton caption Marc Murphy) proudly displaying hers.
