Do you need physiotherapy in your NDIS plan?

-

PHYSIOTHERAPISTS help you take part in the community and be more independent.

They can help you or the person you care for to manage pain and chronic conditions, do daily jobs, sports and hobbies and manage daily activities like getting out of bed and moving around your home.

Some health conditions are more complex and can benefit from a physiotherapist who has been trained in one area, such as the NeuroPhysio service provided by MS Queensland.

Neurological physiotherapy involves the treatment of people who have experienced a neurological disorder.

Neurological disorders are those affecting the brain, spinal cord and nerves such as stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s Disease.

Damage to the nervous system can produce a range of symptoms that affect the quality of movement of day-to-day activities, making it difficult to perform simple tasks such as walking.

The MS Queensland NeuroPhysio team look at your goals and work with you to create a management plan that aims to improve your physical independence and quality of life by maximising your ability to physically participate in daily life.

Neurological physiotherapists are trained and experienced in identifying and treating symptoms due to damage of the nervous system.

Neurological physiotherapists attend courses that are specific to neurological physiotherapy and participate in a philosophy of care called neuro-rehabilitation which emphasises patient education and self-management.

If you feel like you need help to move better or manage your disability or condition then you can ask your NDIA planner for physiotherapy or contact the MS Queensland NeuroPhysio team on 3840 0841.
