Hype around Max Brenner

City sent into frenzy by chocolate bar

- Meghan Harris meghan.harris @thechronicle.com.au

WITH the hype surrounding the opening of Max Brenner, it’s safe to say hundreds of residents will visit the chocolate bar.

An official date of Thursday, October 19 has been locked in place and the news people only had to wait three more weeks for it to open sent The Chronicle readers into a frenzy.

Opening at Grand Central Shopping Centre, the store will celebrate its Toowoomba store with free hot chocolates until 2pm and its famous Chocolate Smashing Ceremony, which involves smashing giant blocks of chocolate and customers getting to enjoy the broken pieces.

Riona Peck said: “Let’s go. There is a smashing ceremony where you smash giant pieces of chocolate and if that’s not the dream then I don’t know what is.”

Sophie Parbury tagged her friend and said: “Would it be too tragic for us to drive 500kms to go to opening day?”

Jackie Wright said: “Bring on the too much chocolate sickness.”

Toowoomba woman Karissa Gesler has to be the

city’s biggest Max Brenner fan and is lucky enough to be able to be part of the opening ceremony.

Max Brenner isn’t just choosing anyone to take part, Ms Gesler has been trying to get a store to open in Toowoomba for months.

She is so obsessed with the chocolate haven that earlier in the year she took to social media to get the Max Brenner team to listen and open a store.

She wrote to the team on the site’s official Facebook page twice, receiving an hilarious response.

Ms Gesler threatened to eat only salad unless it opened in Toowoomba.

The team responded saying they would “one day” open in the Garden City.

That was back in July and

it appears “one day” has come around sooner than we hoped.
