TOOWOOMBA CATTLE
WITH no sale next week due to the public holiday numbers only increased by 190 head.
Overall quality continues to decline and young cattle were in the largest numbers.
Light and medium weight yearling steers to feed and restockers could not maintain the levels of the previous week.
However, heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 4c/kg dearer.
Light weight yearling heifers experienced some improvement in price.
Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export slaughter sold to a firm market with some small improvements in places.
Cows also generally sold to a firm market with plain condition classes a few cents dearer.
Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 341c with mixed sex calves averaging 285c/kg.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 298c and made to 315.2c/kg.
Yearling steers to feed in the 280-330kg range made to the occasional 320.2c most close to 296c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 292c and made to 306.2c/kg.
A fair sample of heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 283.2c with most around 272c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers generally sold in the 270c range with some to 282.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to the trade averaged 265c and made to an isolated 289.2c/kg.
Heavy grown steers to export slaughter made to a top of 279.2c with most close to 270c and the bullock portion also averaged 270c and made to 277.2c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 186c and sold to 192.2c/kg.
Good heavy cows mostly sold around 212c with a mixture of heifers and cows reaching 220.2c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 256.2c/kg.
GYMPIE CATTLE
SULLIVAN Livestock yarded 1363 cattle at their Gympie sale held Monday.
The market remained firm with the exception of young cattle which were slightly easier.
Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Aramara, Maryborough, Bauple, Woolooga, Tansey, Kilkivan, Maleny, Kenilworth, Eumundi, Cooroy and all local areas.
Limited numbers of heavy feeders topped at $2.80 generally selling from $2.65 to $2.75.
Simmental cross steers from RB & KE Corkin, Maleny made $2.75 to return $1189.
Brangus steers from the Slater Family made $2.75 ($1073).
Murray grey cross steers from P& G Le Compte, Yandina made $2.79 ($963).
Charolais cross steers from Ken Guy, Eumundi made $2.99 ($856), while their Santa cross brothers made $2.99 ($832).
Weaner steers topped at $3.20 but most sold from $2.80 to $3.15
Heavy feeder heifers sold to a top of $2.61 for Santa cross heifers from Doug Sallaway to return $1104.
Grey brahman heifers from Yenda, Gayndah sold for $2.97 ($775).
Store conditioned weaner heifers sold from $2.40 to $2.58.
Good conditioned vealer heifers generally sold from $2.50 to $2.62.
Cows and calves topped at $1320.
WARWICK CATTLE
NUMBERS remained virtually unchanged and fair panel of buyers was present.
All were operating in a firm to dearer market.
Despite the dry conditions restockers lifted prices on light weight yearling steers by 15c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 2c/kg better following the large losses the previous sale.
Heavy weight yearling
steers to feed received stronger support to average 4c/kg dearer.
Light weight yearling heifers to feed or slaughter improved in price by 5c to 6c, however medium weight yearling heifers to feed gained 10c to 20c/kg.
Bullocks averaged 3c dearer and cows sold to a market that was 6c to 7c/kg better.
Light weight yearling steers returned to the paddock for an average of 311c, while some sold to 331.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 277c and made to 285.2c/kg.
Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 275c and reached 281.2c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers to slaughter averaged 267c while feeder classes averaged 276c and made to 288.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged around the 270c range and made to 277.2c while local trade descriptions averaged 267c and made to 280.2c/kg.
Bullocks averaged 274c and made to 275.2c while full mouth bullocks averaged 263c and made to 267.2c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 193c and
made to 199.2c/kg.
Good heavy cows mostly sold around 220c, with sales reaching 225.2c/kg, returning $2,100/head.
Heavy bulls made to 277.2c/kg.
MORETON CATTLE
ALL export cattle experienced a firming trend, feeder cattle were slightly dearer with very good competition.
Light grain fed and prime yearlings saw an easier market.
Vealers were firm, plain store cattle found lesser competition in line with dry conditions.
Crop fed 4 tooth droughtmaster steers from vendor Lakeside Farms sold for 281.2 c/kg weighing 613kg to return $1723.
Lakeside Farms also sold crop-fed 2 tooth droughtmaster steers for 283.2 c/kg weighing 599kg to return $ 1697.
70 days grain accredited charbray steers from vendor Gallanani Grazing Co sold for 292.2 c/kg weighing 518 kg to return $1514.
90 days grain accredited angus x heifers account D & M Heck sold for 283.2 c/kg weighing 535kg to return $1515.
M Hilan sold charolais x feeder steers for 278.2 c/kg
weighing 465kg to return $1295.

ROMA STORE
THERE was a yarding of 3,581 head at Roma Store Sale, down 2,300 head on last week.
The majority were heifers, with 150 less steers and just fewer than 600 cows were offered.
All buyers were present, with the right article and superior cattle continuing to reach solid prices however averages were affected by lesser quality lines.
An outstanding class of weaner steers made to a top of 373.2c and averaged 328c/kg.
Trade steers made to a top of 294.2c to average 274c/kg.
Weaner heifers made to a top of 292.2c to average 258c/kg.
Trade heifers sold to a top of 270.2c and averaged 258c/kg.
Grown steers to slaughter weighing over 400kg made to a top of 284.2, averaging 215c/kg, again affected by quality supply and demand.
Medium weight cows reached 219.2c and averaged
176c while heavy cows to slaughter made to a top of 259.2c, averaging 210c/kg.
Lighter bulls returning to the paddock reached 316.2c and averaged 220c while heavier bulls made to 246.2c to average 224c/kg.
Cows with calves at foot sold for $1220/unit.
DALBY CATTLE
THE supply of stock reduced by 1,200 head and buyer attendance was generally good and most were operating in a firm to dearer market.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 1c to 4c dearer, however yearling heifers to feed regained some of the previous week’s losses to average 13c/kg better.
Heavy grown steers and bullocks experienced very little change in price.
Cows sold to a dearer trend with the better end of the cows 5c/kg dearer.
Yearling steers made from 238c to 296.2c, with the C3 heavy weights averaging 276.8c, up 4c/kg.
Yearling C3 heifers to feeders sold from 251.2c to 290.2c and averaged 266.9c, up 13c/kg.
Grown steers to feeders in the 400-500kg range made from 248c to 258.2c, easing 6c, those in the 500-600kg range averaged 254.4c/kg.
Grown heifers made from 210.2c to 243.2c/kg.
D4 cows, in the 400-520kg range, made from 205c to 218.2c, to average 212.5c, up by 5c/kg on last sale.
Bulls sold from 214.2c to 268.2c, with the heavy weight C3s making from 230.2c to 260.2c, to average 247.5c, back by 4c/kg.
WARWICK SHEEP
WARWICK Selling Agents yarded 2407 lambs and hoggets, and 637 sheep at last week’s sale.
Top lambs account CC & AM Muir of “Glen Elva”, Millmerran sold for $167.
In a larger yarding of both sheep and lambs, the market was cheaper for all descriptions.
Crossbred lambs 51 - 55kg live weight selling from $135 to $142.
Crossbred lambs 46 - 50kg live weight selling from $128 to $143.
